Jude's POV:

Jules' brow furrowed deeply as she pressed Alex, her voice tense with confusion. "Leaving? What do you mean, Alex? Clarify, please."

Her surprise mirrored the way I felt. I leaned in, drawn closer to the conversation despite myself.

Not that I cared.
Just curious, that's all.
Yaa...

Alex leaned back in his chair. One arm rested casually on the back of Jules' chair, the other lay flat on the table. "Remember that college in New York Tae always dreamt of attending? Well, he received his acceptance letter a few days ago. He might be leaving within a month for New York."

His words hit like a bombshell and the impact was visible. Surprise was written across both mine and Jules' faces. Her head snapped toward me in shock, then whipped back to Alex. "When did this happen and why wasn't I informed?" Jules' voice rose in disbelief.

Before Alex could respond, Kevin scoffed, breaking into the conversation with an edge of irritation. "Not like we're his postmen. Even we only found out about this yesterday."

Alex sighed, trying to keep the peace. "Kevin, stop whining like a kid. He must have his reasons for not telling us sooner."

But Kevin wasn't ready to let it go. He shot Alex a skeptical look, leaning forward as if to make his point louder and clearer. "Okay, I get it. He has his reasons for the college thing. But at least he can tell us why he wanted to break up with J."

The room seemed to freeze. Jules' sharp intake of breath was followed by an explosive outburst. "What!" she practically yelled, her voice echoing across the canteen. Heads turned, students now focused on the commotion we had unintentionally created.

Before the attention could grow any larger, Alex reached out, covering Jules' mouth gently with one hand while using the other to guide her back into her seat, his eyes darting around.

"Shh... Don't scream."

Jules scoffed and gave him a mischievous grin. "I thought you love it when I scream."

Alex eyes widened in surprise, just for a second before he regained his calm demeanor. Seeing that, I couldn't help but shift in my seat, trying to discreetly avert my gaze. Not like I wanted to intrude. Just being polite, of course. I pretended to be fascinated by the cafeteria wall.

Alex leaned in closer to Jules, whispering something in her ear. I couldn't catch a word. However, to my utter surprise, Jules' cheeks flushed a delicate shade of pink and she quickly glanced down, shyly.

Okay, I want to know what he said to make Jules blush like that, right?

Kevin's loud, exaggerated cough broke through the moment, snapping the atmosphere back to normal. "Stop being shameless, you love chickens."
