Elisabeth's POV:

I joined Scarlet after telling Arianna where we were going. I noticed that she looked worried. I caught up and put my arm round her.

"Worried about your dad?" I asked her gently.

Scarlet nodded. I could tell she was close to tears.

"Here," I said taking her to a bench and hugging her. "It's okay! Might be tricky to handle at first. But unlike me, you have us all."

"I know," mumbled Scarlet.

I pulled her to me as she trembled.

"Promise," I said reasuring her. "We can get through it. I still miss my dad. But I'm here for you."

"Thank you, Els!" Scarlet put her head on my shoulder.

I heard a cane and saw Glacier walk up.

"Come here, Glace," I said tapping the bench. "Come and help me."

Glacier came over and sat down the other side of Scarlet. We both hugged her.

"I'm sure your dad will be okay, Scar," she said. "But we are both here."

"Glacier's right," I said. "We are here with you. And Winter, Wolfie, Raven, Anna and even the adults and dogs."

Scarlet nodded. Then Glacier folded up her cane and put it on the ground.

"We can help, Scar," she said. "Most of us have lost things in our lives that mean a lot to us!"

"You have Wolfie back," sighed Scarlet.

"Not sure how long, though!" Sighed Glacier. "She's not herself. Like she's acting strange."

"What do you mean?" I asked.

"It's like her brain is going fuzzy!" Glacier explained. "She was talking to me just now as you two left. It's getting me worried."

"Sorry if I offended you, Glace!" Scarlet sniffled.

"You didn't," said Glacier. "It kind of helped to get it out."

A phone started vibrating.

"Whoo's phone is that?" Asked Glacier.

"Oh," I said. "It's mmine!"

I got it out of my pocket and saw the name David. Oh no!

"Answer it," said Glacier.

I answered the call. "Hello?"

"Is Scarlet with you, darling?" Asked David.

He had that voice I knew very well. The voice from the news report.

"Er ... yes," I said. "Oh, David! It isn't to do with ..."

"Put me on loud speaker, Darling." David said.

I did so. Glacier got ready to hold Scarlet close to her.

"you are on loud, David!" I said. "We are ready to be with her. Glacier's got her."

"Okay," said David.

"Hey, David," said Scarlet.

"Hey, Scarlet darling," said David. "Listen to me."

"Okay," said Scarlet, chewing her lip.

"Please stick by the girls," said David. "They will be the best company you need right now."

"We are looking after her, Dad," said Glacier holding Scarlet close.

"Thought you and Elsa would be the best to help," said David.

"Um ... so ... what's going on?" I asked, getting ready to also hug Scarlet.

"Scarlet, darling!" David sounded like he wanted to join us. "I have bad news."

"Oh fuck," whimpered Scarlet.

"Girls, hug her now!" David advised.

"On it," we said wrapping Scarlet in a tight hug.

"Sorry, Scarlet, sweetie," said David. "They tried to save him."

"No no no," Scarlet was shaking.

"Shush-shush," I soothed.

"Dad's dead?" Scarlet asked, mid scream.

"Yes," came the answer she dreaded.

Glacier held Scarlet to her, letting her sob hard into her chest. I got up.

"Going to get the others," I told my girlfriend. "Here is my phone."

"Good girl," said David. "I'll let Arianna know by text about it."

"Bye," we said.

"Bye girls!" Sighed David.

Then he left. Glacier rubbed circles in to Scarlet's back as she sobbed heartbroken sobs. I meanwhile ran down to the field. I was worried how everyone would react. What just happened was no laughing matter. I really felt for Scarlet. I really do!

A/N:

Wow. This was tricky to write. But I did it!

Sad about what happened. Glacier was hinting about something that comes later in the book. Not saying unless you've read the Mill Brook OCs book.

Hoped you liked the chapter. Despite the change of the mood.

Wolfie out!
