A/N: you be testing my early one piece knowledge, I can barely remember the start of one piece despite watching one piece 3 times and reading the manga, soooo, forgive me and my forgetful brain if anything is wrong!!

"You really wanna be a marine?" You asked the pink haired kid you had come to know, whilst running around with a pirate. He nodded but he seemed scared and timid.
"Okay I think I'll join you" you smiled, and so you did. After the chaos with Morgan, his son, and letting the pirate hunter go with Luffy, you and Koby joined up. Unfortunately for you, you had both been put on janitor duty, alongside Morgan's son.
As you were scrubbing the floor you huffed, this was a lot of work and it sucked. "Aren't you going to help" you frowned looking over at said son, who was leaning up against the wall. He looked down at you like you had just insulted his entire bloodline. "You do remember who I am don't you?" He scoffed.
You rolled your eyes. "Right now you're the guy getting on my nerves again" you shot back, starting to stand up. "Woah woah hey" Koby ran in front of you to stop you, you looked just about ready to scrap, and Helmeppo looked like he feared whatever you'd do to him. He didn't have his dad to hide behind anymore. "It's not fair. That damn strawhat kid came along and messed everything up" Helmeppo whined.
"He gave you a chance to start again and make a name for yourself, and you're squandering it right now" you scoffed, placing a hand on your hip. You pointed your finger at him. "Your complaining is becoming really old. Find a new hobby" you scolded, walking away from the two of them to wash windows.
"I hate her, she's got such a stick up her butt" Helmeppo growled, watching as you walked away, but there was something about you he just couldn't shake, it seems like you actually saw something in him when you spoke of him making a name for himself.
"She's right Helmeppo, I'm going to be a marine officer, and you'll get your dreams too" Koby smiled, it was as if his eyes turned into stars themselves as he spoke. "Give me a break" Helmeppo rolled his eyes as he walked away from Koby. He didn't need anymore pep talks today.

Your brain ran faster than it ever had before. Somehow you'd gone from a small marine base, to heading for marine headquarters. Garp had taken the three of you, after what happened..
You had thought over it a million times, the way Helmeppo actually fought for himself, and Koby, the loyalty and friendship he showed, and the vulnerability.
You pushed the palm of your hands onto your eyes. You just couldn't stop thinking about him, the daddies boy who annoyed you constantly, was not leaving your mind. You sat up, there wasn't much chance left to sleep anyway.
You tiptoed out of the bunks and towards the galley for some water.. hoping that it wouldn't get you in trouble. You quickly exited the room and smacked into something falling to the floor. "Ow". You rubbed your head where you hit yourself on whatever you had run into.
You looked up and frowned. "Somehow you're always my problem" you grumbled, looking up at Helmeppo. He sheepishly smiled, holding his hand out. "Couldn't sleep either huh?" He asked, friendlier than he ever had been before. It was a welcome change, but made it harder to stop thinking about him.
"Yeah" you sighed, not bothering to mention he's the reason why. You rubbed your eyes. "Kind of crazy we're heading to the grandline isn't it" you spoke up trying to make conversation. He nodded. "I've heard terrifying tales, yet.. I'm excited" he offered you a smile. You felt your heart beat at that smile before turning away.
You started walking in the direction of the kitchen, Helmeppo following you. "I guess it is a bit exciting, I just, feel like it happened so quickly" you shrugged, wondering when you became the pessimistic one between the two of you.
"It did.. but I need to be here in order to get strong enough to take down Morgan". You stopped and turned to him, he really was serious about it.. it impressed you to hear, but at the same time you felt shocked. "So you really were serious about that?" You questioned.
"Of course I was" he raised an eyebrow. "Bu-" you were cut off by Helmeppo covering your mouth and shutting you both in the nearest room. He held his finger up to his lips and shushed you, still holding his hand over your face. You smacked him in the arms and shoulder trying to get him to let go, he was stopping you breathing properly.
Once he let go you took in a big gasp and looked at him like he was crazy. "What the hell" you frowned, a sharp tone in your voice. "Sorry.. it was Garp, I overheard some of the other marines saying how he's not a morning person.. he'll give the worst duties to those who just cross his path too early" he shuddered.
"And I don't want to be cleaning toilets" he added. You rolled your eyes. "Oh please he can't be that bad" you turned to grab the door handle to leave but it was locked. "No way.." you spoke up, jiggling it another few times.
"What's wrong?" Helmeppo's voice came from beside you. "You got us locked in" you growled, rattling the door some more. "Not possible let me try" Helmeppo pushed you out the way to try opening the door himself, to no avail. "Shoot.. we're really stuck" he rubbed the back of his neck as he gave you an apologetic look, he didn't love the angry look you were currently adorning.
"Great. Just great. You must kidding" you sighed, holding your hand to your forehead. "We still have an hour before anyone is due to get up.. stuck in here" you groaned. "Well then let's get comfy" Helmeppo was attempting to lighten the mood, and you couldn't help but follow along, what else could you do.
You both sat down in the small space, staring at one another. "You know.. I'm impressed that you want to actually track down and apprehend your father" you started, returning to the earlier conversation. "Thanks.. I guess I realised he's not the man I once thought he was..".
"Must be hard.. I'm sorry" you gave him a sympathetic look as shuffled a little closer to him. "Actually.. I feel pretty good about it" he smiled.

"Thank you again" you repeated for the 5th time to the marine that finally let you and Helmeppo out. Although throughly confused he didn't seem to ask too many questions thankfully. You both walked together to the galley, so you could finally get that water and you could both join Koby for breakfast.
"There you guys are" he grinned waving you and Helmeppo over. "It's weird to see you two hanging out" he commented, looking at the both of you with a questioning look. "Yeah well someone got us locked in a storage room" you sent a teasing smile to Helmeppo who awkwardly scratched his head.
"It was an accident.." he replied. "I won't ask.. but seems like you guys are getting along better.." Koby smiled, and he was right.. you were getting along just fine with Helmeppo.. in fact you had enjoyed the hour you spend locked with him, and was looking forward to where time would take you both.
