"Hey. Mop-Top!" A bald-man yelled out as he stood in front of a boy with blonde hair that came down a little past his jawline.
Lucelia Petrov — a girl with brown hair that was in two loose braids and starry-eyes — stood a few feet away from him with her feet spread apart and her hands behind her back as she watched from the side of her eyes.
For years, she had dreamt of this moment. Dreamt of finally joining the military just like her mother did at her age.
Now she was here. Making her mother proud.
"Sir!" The blonde boy said as he saluted to the older man.
The bald man, Commandant Keith Shadis, asked, "What do they call you, maggot?" Lucelia furrowed her eyebrows slightly at the words he chose. Maggot?
"Armin Arlet from Shinganshina, sir!"
Lucelia felt her body tense at the said town. Shinganshina was a town that everyone knew of. Not for its food or for anything like that. They were known for that day. The day Titans got through the walls that they once thought could protect them. The day many civilians had died or lost their homes and families.
The brunette remembered hearing about it from her father. She remembered him saying how horrible it was as he held the newspaper in his hands while he sat at the kitchen table.
She frowned at the thought of him.
"Wow, seriously? Why would your parents curse you with such a dumb name?" Shadis asked.
"It was my grandfather, sir!"
"Cadet Arlet! Why is a runt like you here?"
"To help humanity overcome the Titans!" Lucelia felt bad for the boy. If she was being honest, she hoped that he didn't come up to her.
"That is delightful to hear! You're gonna be a great light snack for him!" He grabbed the blondes head, "Row Three. About Face, runt!" He turned him around before moving on.
