Narrator pov. Flashback time~ To that one moment at the Haido City Hotel~

They started to actually look around this time, seeing all the people attending the party.

But while Edogawa and Haibara talked about the celebrities that were there, Irene's focus was suddenly gone as she saw a familiar face that should not be there.

And for once, her eyes widened in surprise and shock 'E-Eh?'

She kept standing there gaping slightly for a moment, spacing out.

Edogawa was the one to snap her out of it as he placed a hand on her shoulder and quietly said, "Karashima?" she blinked as she looked at him and he asked, "What's wrong?" sounding concerned and cautious.

She looked around, not seeing who she thought she saw anymore which made her body relax.

That must've been her imagination.

She looked back at him and shook her head, "Nothing. Just spaced out. Don't worry. There's no danger." she then asked, "So, what was the last thing you said?" 

Flashback end~ (Hehe I'm cruel >:3)

"Irene-chan.... Ne, Irene-chan, wake up." Ayumi shook her friend and seatmate by the shoulder, the uninjured one, thankfully, gently while calling out softly, "The bell for lunch just rang." 

Irene opened her eyes and looked at her before sitting up on her chair, "Gomen, Ayumi-chan." she apologized as Ayumi just shook her head with a smile, "It's alright."

They both stood up and started adjusting their tables to eat with their friend group like usual.

Irene started eating the moment her tray of food arrived, though she was still thinking about... that face.

'I thought I already got over it... Yet even now, when I'm not thinking about it, it keeps popping up...' Honestly, it made her insomnia even worse, which was why she started sleeping in class. But she never told anyone else what was bothering her.

Thankfully Kobayashi, as kind as she was, didn't scold her for it since she already knew Irene was an insomniac, and it wasn't abnormal that there were times when it would get worse.

The detective boys noticed as well, but they were worried that she caught Haibara's cold, which she reassured wasn't the case.

Meanwhile, Edogawa and Haibara, who were the only ones with her when she saw the face, were the ones that were the hardest to hide from.
