Sean grabs a shopping cart while I wait just inside the store's entrance, smiling at him as he joins me. Together, we set inside, in search for the ingredients needed for dinner as well as the stuff I will be needing for the duration of my stay with him. The sun, almost ready to set, casts a cheerful glow over the store, infecting the place with beautiful lighting as the sun's rays hit the windows.
Our first stop is the grocery section, and I look to Sean for direction, not knowing what is on his list he had typed in the notes app of his phone. He glances down at it and then at me, a smile on his face as he passes the device to me.
"Would you be alright being in charge of the list and telling me what to grab?" I nod, glad to have a role in this trip rather than just following him around like a lost puppy. I look at the list and rattle off a few of the first things that I can see are around us. Sean grabs each thing, the amount we need, and adds it to the cart. We continue our way around the store in a similar fashion, him adding to the cart while I list off the next thing we need.
"And that's all I have here. Are we done or do you need to grab other things that weren't on the list?" I ask and he smiles at me, motioning for me to come to his side. I do as he asks, his arm snakes around my shoulders, pulling me into him more as we continue walking around the store.
"We are now shopping for you, cutie. Anything you need for at least a month's stay. We will restock as we need if you're here for longer." He explains, pushing the cart effortlessly with one hand while the other remains on my person. I can't help the heat in my cheeks at what people must be seeing; him holding me in such a way makes my heart flutter.
Sean's presence, his warmth radiating onto me, it makes shopping a lot more enjoyable and less of a chore.
Together, we walk around, making our way to toiletries first. The rows of all the brands, some of which I know but a lot are new territory as the variation of products differ to those I am used to in Greece. With Sean by my side, he helps me pick out products for each that are similar to what I am used to. The shampoo and conditioner are specifically for curly hair, something I have been wanting to get back - my natural curls - and give off a light summery scent, almost resembling berries. The shower gel and exfoliation product he points out and recommends have the same scent as to complement each other; a sweet musk. We also grab some toothpaste of my own as well as a new toothbrush and razor. I add a can of deodorant that is berry scented; as to mix well with the new products I have.
The aisle over makes my face heat up, despite it being a natural thing that I have gone through for many years now - maybe it is because I am doing this with a man I met only today. I avoid any eye contact with Sean as I scan the aisle, trying to find a product I am used to but struggling. I groan inwardly and cover my face, Sean chuckling quietly next to me.
"Do you need some help for recommendations?" He asks, the blood coloring my cheeks as I nod. He squeezes my shoulder reassuringly before releasing his hold on me and venturing into the aisle, looking through the different brands, flows and variations of pads to tampons. I lean against the cart, my eyes casting downwards as I flip Sean's phone in my hand, it buzzing for a moment. I look over at Sean, him heading towards me with variations of different products, his smile never wavering as he comes back to me.
"I'll go through them to see what I'll most likely use. Your phone buzzed." I inform him, handing the phone over, while taking the products from his arms. His fingers graze mine for a moment and then I focus on the task, placing the tampons back straight away - I have never felt comfortable putting them up, despite my mom trying to show me home, along with tutorials online. I then filter through the rest, keeping a pack of day heavy flow and night heavy flow, replacing the others to the shelves. I look back at Sean, the phone going into his back pocket.
