Shoutout to all the Day6 fans we discovered last chapter 🫰🏻
"You're an idiot. Just admit that you're wrong," Nayeon challenged.
"Listen here Miss Perfect, I've known Day6 since their debut and–"
"Don't play that card with me," Nayeon interrupted. "Just because you've been a fan longer doesn't make you better."
Jeongyeon clicked her tongue. "I didn't say that. You're twisting my words."
"Please, that's exactly what you were thinking though. It doesn't matter when someone becomes a fan."
"That's not what I meant! Damn, at least let me explain myself dumbass," Jeongyeon demanded. Nayeon raised a perfectly shaped eyebrow and gestured for her to go ahead. "Thank you. All I meant was that I've followed them from the very beginning. I think that gives me a good insight into their music. I've seen them through every single up and down and then some."
"Fair enough." Nayeon went back to taking inventory. "Doesn't mean you're right though," she mumbled loud enough for Jeongyeon to hear.
"You can't stand losing huh?" Jeongyeon threw a wadded up napkin at her head.
"Jeongyeon, I swear to god I'm gonna–"
"There's another moth right there." Jeongyeon pointed towards one of the boxes of pasta she had been counting. Nayeon threw her clipboard and sprinted away from the shelves, ending up on the opposite side of the pantry.
"Oh my god, you totally fell for it! Hahahahaha!" Jeongyeon about fell out on the floor because of how hard she was laughing, and Nayeon realized that she had just been tricked.
"You asshole!"
"Uh, are you two always like this?" Jeongin asked.
Right, Jeongin was here.
Chef Lee had assigned all three for closing duties today for some reason. Totally not because Nayeon and Jeongyeon had argued just a bit and Jeongin, that sweet innocent soul, had tried to play peacemaker (the poor guy hadn't known what he was getting into).
On Sundays, the restaurant was only open for lunch. It gave the staff a chance to have a break and gear up for the coming week. The three were tasked with taking inventory among their other duties, which is what they were trying to do now. If only the two women would quit fighting and messing with each other.
"Jeongin, don't hang around Jeongyeon too much," Nayeon told the guy. "She's a bad influence."
"Come on, you have to admit that was pretty funny," Jeongyeon said. "You practically flew across the room. Did your feet even touch the ground?" Jeongyeon retrieved the wadded up napkin and threw it away. "Jeongin thought it was funny."
"I uh...." It had been funny to see Nayeon freak out over a nonexistent bug, but he wasn't about to admit it and get on her bad side. The older woman scared him. "Maybe we should get back to work? My brother will be here soon to pick me up for a family thing."
"You should've told us sooner man," Jeongyeon said. "Here. Let me finish sweeping. You can help Nayeon take inventory." She took the broom from him and directed him to the other woman.
"I-if it's fine with you," Jeongin said, looking nervously at Nayeon.
"You start with these shelves over here and I'll take these," Nayeon said with a smile. "Then we'll meet in the middle."
"Okay."
Jeongin secretly breathed a sigh of relief. He didn't know what to make of the two chefs. They were both fierce in their own ways and he could see why they clashed. Yet they seemed to also get along really well at times and be in perfect sync when it came to work. He glanced at Jeongyeon and saw her watching Nayeon while she made notes on her clipboard. She had a soft smile on her face.
