Yuta went pale and fell silent.
I'm in Re:Zero.
The anime where the protagonist was killed in every possible way and saw everyone who was important to him die before his eyes. This is a world filled with monsters and demonic beasts with deadly and potent curses, a fanatical cult that massacres anyone just so he can receive the attention of a witch who destroyed half the continent and many other calamities.
Yuta: "(What... What should I do about this? Can I survive in this place?)"
All he could do was watch it all unfold.
Reinhard: "Looks like I won't need to introduce myself... However, that title is a bit exaggerated."
Reinhard muttered self-deprecatingly, but the gleam in his eyes didn't falter.
With his penetrating gaze, the men recoiled as if oppressed. They glanced at each other as if deciding when to run, but...
Reinhard: "If you flee, I'll let it end there. It's better for you to go out onto the street. However, if you wish to use force, I will be your opponent."
He placed his hand on the sword hilt and glanced at Yuta, who was behind him.
Reinhard: "In that case, it would be three against three. In terms of numbers, we would be evenly matched. I don't know to what extent my meager strength can help, but as a knight, I will face you."
Ton: "T-This must be a joke! No way!"
Reinhard's declaration sent them into a panic; they ran out onto the street, passing by him and even forgetting to hide their weapons.
They were so desperate that they couldn't even make farewell threats. That alone showed how extraordinary Reinhard was... Not that I was unaware of how powerful he was.
Reinhard was unquestionably the strongest in this world.
If only I could reach him...
Reinhard: "I'm glad the three of us are safe. Are you okay?"
After watching the men leave, the young redhead turned around with a smile.
Suddenly, the air of intimidation covering the alley disappeared. That was something he had consciously manifested; I had to exert myself a little to get up from the ground and dust off my knees before bowing.
Yuta: "Thank you very much; we would have been lost if you hadn't shown up..."
Rika: "Yuta, I would protect you even if he hadn't come here."
Yuta: "(This is kind of the reason for our problem, Rika...)"
Yuta: "Don't say that, Rika. When someone helps you, you should thank them properly."
Rika pouted a bit but allowed herself to murmur a low "Thank you" to him.
Reinhard: "Relax, there's no need to go that far. They felt they had lost the advantage when they became three against three. It would have been different if I were alone."
The young redhead smiled for a few seconds before focusing his eyes on Rika, analyzing her.
Reinhard: "Moreover, I can affirm that with this spirit's determination to protect you, you would certainly be fine even if I weren't here. My presence wasn't of much use."
I was shocked when he openly declared that Rika was a "Spirit." Did he instantly perceive that she was a Curse? It shouldn't be unexpected coming from Reinhard, but I was still taken aback. By my side, Rika kept her guard up. If I had to exemplify, she would be like a wary cat.
