The blue hyacinth has many-many meaning. Due to its mythological symbolism- it can be associated with pure sincerity, loyalty and deep emotions, love.

However, in the Victorian area, when people tend to use the language of the flowers often,  hyacinth meant also SORROW, DEATH and IMPENDING DOOM - something dark coming. This associations could come from the Greek mythology, too.

In the Greek myths, Apollo had a really kind, handsome friend: ~ Hyacinth. (Hyacinthus was so beautiful like Dorian Gray, and Apollo was so in friendship with him, like Basil was with Dorian...)

So well, Hyacinthus was the lover of Apollo...

Anyway, Hyacinth was killed by the god of the West wind and Apollo mourned so much that he turned Hyacinth into a flower instead of letting Hades take his soul away.
