16. A Different Mission

Emerald eyes graze quickly over the new weeks pair up patrol roaster hanging up in the hero lounge break room.

If he's honest he'd tell you he's saying a silent prayer that he's paired up with blonde hair and crimson eyes but that prayer falls dead on his tongue when he sees that he's again with Dash all week.

There's a sigh of disappointment and irritation in green eyes. It's not just that he's not with Katsuki it's that he hasn't been with anyone else at all and he enjoyed those times working with other hero's and his friends.

A voice behind him breaks his train of thought.

" Mido!! Hey bro! Long time no see!!!"

Izuku turns to see the bright yellow eyes of an electric hero, he smiles brightly in return.

" Hi Kami! Yeah, it's definitely been a while, seems like I haven't even seen you in passing lately."

Kaminari walks to his friend placing an arm around his neck while resting his temple against the side of the greenett's while he sighs dramatically.

"I knoooow bro, it sucks! I feel like we never even patrol together anymore either, and bro when's the last time we hung out??! I miss you man!"

Izuku smiles as he hugs his dramatic friend from the side. He sighs as his mind shifts thinking about what has been starting to set in.

" Yes, I know. I miss you too. I really do need to start seeing more of all of you."

Denki pulls his head away with a smile, his arm still around the greenett's shoulders.

" That would be great. Hey by the way I wanted to mention you look a lot better than I've seen you look in a long time. Nice to see you looking more rested and really smiling. I dunno what you've been doing to make it happen but it's working for ya bro", Kami says ruffling green locks.

Izuku smiles wide with a chuckle, his gaze shifting to the floor as he thinks of the moments and conversations he's gotten to share with Katsuki lately and the last one where on top of a building on a late night lunch break he finally got to tell that blonde hero how much he has worried and finally was able to give his own trauma a voice to have it soothed by strong arms and the sound of a steady heart mixed with words of regret.

He meets yellow eyes with a soft expression.

" Thanks, I'm feeling better these days."

Kami nods with a grin then his eyes shift to the schedule on the wall. As he reads it he smiles but sighs looking at the greenett.

" Well, looks like I'm on tonight with Kacchan, but I know he'd rather be paired with you, especially considering what today is."

Green eyes flash with a trace of frustrated sadness.

" Yes, I was thinking that..but um, I'm going to try and find him at lunch, maybe you could text me the location when you guys take your break?"

Kami grins.

" You can count on it!"

Izuku smiles brightly.

" Thanks. I actually tried to find him before I started patrol but I was told he started his shift a little early."

Denki nods.

" Yep. Since he just moved in to his new place he wanted to pick up some extra hours to replace his security deposit and stuff that he had to lay down."
