Flying was something I wasn't capable of. I was aware of that ever since I can remember my past. I did try and try, until one day I jumped from the highest springboard at the circus, of course there was a large mattress on which I fell, but the way I did almost broke my wing. I fear heights ever since.
I was laying on my bed when I heard the door open slowly and Joker entered in.
"You haven't been out of your room the whole day."
Slowly, I got up from my bed and looked at him, not knowing what to say. He looked at my wings with thoughtful eyes.
"Can you fly, angel?"
I shook my head and looked away from him. I felt ashamed, thinking how useless I was with them.
"Put something on, I'll wait for you in the car... and do it fast, I hate waiting." With that he walked out.
In few minutes I got in the car and without saying a word we drove off.
"Where are we going?" Maybe I really was as curious as he said I was. But I just couldn't help it.
"You'll see when we get there." He explained and for the rest of the ride we stayed in silence.
We arrived at some hill in the nothing. No buildings, no trees, nothing. Getting out of the car I could feel the strong wind blowing my hair.
"Take your coat off." Jack said as he looked at me.
"Jack, no! I-I can't fly, I told you." I tried to protest, understanding why he took me here.
"JUST DO IT!" He shouted angrily at me, I guess he hates it when someone doesn't do as he says.
With no more hesitation I took my coat off and left it in the car. He went to the edge of the hill and looked at me from his shoulder, giving me the hint to go there. I could feel my legs tremble and my heels weren't making it easy for me. Seeing that, he took my hand and stand beside me at the edge for a while.
"Close your eyes." His deep voice gave me the feeling to trust him and I closed them.
He let go of my hand slowly, after seeing I got comfortable with the wind. At first my mind shouted at me to open my eyes, but the relaxation of my body told me to stay calm. The wind became stronger and I felt it spreading my arms from my body as they were relaxed. My wings spread and I quickly kicked my heels off, barely keeping on my toes, and with another strong blow from the wind I was lifter up from the ground. I smiled widely, moving my legs as if I was walking on my toes and in the end I just gave in to the feeling. The whole thing lasted only few seconds and when the wind was gone I fell on the ground on my arms. I exhaled loud, because I was completely lost in the moment, that I got scared when I no longer felt the wind underneath my wings. Of course, I wasn't hurt, because I was only few inches from the ground.
Jack quickly came to me and picked me up on my feet by the shoulders.
"Did you see that? Did you? The wind lifted me up!" I jumped up and down from excitement as he was still holding me, looking at me with a huge smile and before I knew it he picked me up by the waist and spun me around, laughing. I laughed with him, spreading my arms wide, fully enjoying the moment.
When he put me down on my feet I hugged him tight, I couldn't find any other way to express how grateful I was to him for what he did.
"Thank you..." I whispered in his ear and I felt he nodded.
When we pulled apart, I put back my heels on and we walked to the car. I couldn't hide my smile away. The whole feeling made me feel free, even if it was for few seconds. I put my coat on and we drove back to the house.
"Tomorrow I will buy you a dress, angel. In two days we will attend to a party." He smacked his lips before continuing. "I have a very important job for you." He did not explain what it was but his laughing gave me the hint it was nothing good.
Bruce Wayne POV
Sitting in the car with Alfred beside me, we watched as she was lifted up by the wind.
"So beautiful, master Wayne." Alfred told me, but didn't move his eyes away.
What shocked me was how the Joker was looking at her, his smile.
"Indeed she is... I never imagined I will see her again. Especially, protecting him." I finally managed to reply to Alfred. I remembered how she protected him with her body from me.
"Life has its way of doing things, master Wayne. Maybe she is a crack of sunlight..."
Indeed she was, so pure, so elegant.
Alfred let out a chuckle when she fell, which caused me to smile as well. She looked like a child jumping in his arms. What I didn't expect to see was how he lifted and spun her around. Who would've tough that he actually could act like a normal person.
"She is his weakness, Alfred." I whispered to him with grin playing on my lips.
"Indeed, she is, master Wayne. But I wouldn't judge." He was so consumed by her beauty that he couldn't understand what I meant.
I coughed a bit and dragged his attention back to reality. He looked at me a bit of shocked, as if he just woke up by a loud thunder, and I let out a laugh.
"She is his weakness, Alfred." I repeated myself. "Don't you see, she is the way, the easiest way for me to catch him." I explained slowly rising up my voice from excitement.
"What is your plan, master?" I sensed some kind of pity in his voice as he looked back at her.
"We must take her from him, I just don't know how." I started thinking of ways, but none were possible. I had no information about him, no location, no name, nothing. He wasn't foolish to not notice a car following his, so tracking him wasn't the way either.
"They are leaving, master Wayne."
I looked up to where they stood and saw they were walking away, I couldn't do anything at this time. But I hoped soon I will have the chance to move, because he had to be stopped, before another man died.
