Positive, Positive, Positive. They were all positive. Ev doesn't know how she's going to tell people especially Paul and Judd but right now she needs to get to work. It's their next shift and they get called to a run away bull.
Owen: I dont see a bull.
Judd: Oh that can't be a good thing.
Owen: Alright move the wounded to safety. Watch your backs. Bull's still on the loose. TK. Why don't you call dispatch? See if anybody has eyes on him. Lets grab some axes, just in case.
Judd: Oh, yeah, that's gonna do alot of good against a 3,000-pound charging beast.
Marjan: What kind of reckless idiot brings a rodeo bull into a car lot in the first place?
Mateo: Happy Stan.
Marjan: Thats happy Stan?
Mateo: I recognize him from the commercials.
Paul: Yeah, well, he don't look too happy now.
Tk: Dispatch can't get us a 20 on the bull, but they're urging us to use extreme caution.
Owen: Excellent. The team walks over to Michelle. See a bull run by?
Michelle: Follow the trail.
Owen: Good idea.
We are slowly walking around the car lot together as a team. Bull groaning in distance.
Owen: Axes up. We find the bull stuck in a car. Ev, call animal control. Give 'em our location.
Marjan: Poor thing.
Ev: APB, we're at Stans used car lot. We got a... we got a bull in a car.
They arrive to sedate the bull.
Animal control: With all the blood he's lost that should hit him pretty quick, but y'all be careful. Injured animal spools easy, even with the tranquilliser. Believe me, nobody wants that.
Marjan: Oh we believe you.
Owen: All right, so no sudden movements, Keep our voices down. Let's do this as quickly and quietly as we can. No saws. I dont want anything that could put a spark into our friend here. Ev you okay?
Ev: I dont feel too good.
Owen: Go wait in the truck i need everyone to be on their guard and you are not.
Back at the station.
Owen: Ev, my office, now!
Judd: Good luck sis.
Ev: Thanks.
Owen: Take a seat. What was that about? You've never gotten queasy like that before.
Ev: I'm sorry Cap it won't happen again.
Owen: Was it just a one of thing?
Ev: I'm hoping so.
Owen: Dont let it happen again.
Mateo: I dont want Captain to die!!!
Ev: Woah what did I just walk in on?
Marjan: Hey. Hey, Caps gonna be all right. Texas has the best cancer doctors in the country.
Bell rings. They deal with the call and get back to the station before going home. Tomorrow is a day off. On the phone.
Paul: Hey, whats going on?
Ev: Do you wanna come round my place?
Paul: Hell yeah I'm on my way.
When he gets there and she lets him in she's immediately up against the wall.
Ev: Woah there cowboy lets take a minute.
Paul: I missed you so much.
Ev: And I missed you too but I need to talk to you about something first.
Paul: Okay I'll back off, whats up?
Ev: Remember that night TK and Carlos took us out and when we came back we did something that wasn't sleeping?
Paul: Yeah best I'd ever done and had.
Ev: Well... I'm pregnant.
Paul: W-What?
Ev: Yeah....
Paul: How?
Ev: Well thats kind of what happens when you do it and don't wear a c@ndom.
Paul: And you didn't take a pill?
Ev: I was hungover.
Paul: Oh right yeah sorry. I'm not saying this is your fault I just don't know what we're gonna do. Who knows?
Ev: No one at the moment but I'm gonna have to tell Cap soon and we have to tell Judd before we tell Cap.
Paul: All right, okay so when were you thinking?
Ev: I was thinking tonight, the sooner we tell the main people the better.
Paul: But we can't tell anyone until after the 12 week scan.
Ev: Your right so after the scan?
Paul: Yeah. Im going to be here for you and this baby.
Ev: Thank you that means alot to me.
Its their next shift.
Owen: TK, Ev you two check his ABCs till medical gets here. Everybody be careful of all this exposed wiring, Marjan, Mateo, why don't you find the braker box. Kill all the power.
Marjan: Copy that.
Mateo: Yes sir.
Tk: All right, airways are open.
Ev: Respiration's okay.
Michelle: What do we have?
Owen: Adult male. Witness says he was electrocuted.
Tk: Bp's 126 over 80. Pulse is steady at 70.
Michelle: 70 BPM after an electrocution? No arrhythmia or tapychnea?
Tk: No.
Michelle: I can't see any head injuries.
Marjan: Powers off Cap.
Woman: Is he gonna be okay?
Owen: He's in the best possible hands.
Tim: We got a laceration on the right arm.
Michelle: He's got a possible lower posterior rib fracture. Lets get his shirt off, and get him hooked up to the monitor.
Nancy: Abrasions on the lower left quadrant.
Michelle: Did somebody hit this guy?
We all look towards the woman.
Woman: I mean I had to. He was--he was clutching on-- on to the wire, and there was nothing else that I could do.
Paul: Wait, if he was holding onto a live wire, how come his hands aren't burned?
Owen: Which wire?
Woman: That one.
Judd: This one ain't connected to nothing.
Woman: He was literally vibrating.
Michelle: Captain Strand. He's got a medical alert medallion.
Owen: He has epilepsy.
Michelle: He wasn't electrocuted. He's postictal.
Judd chuckles.
Michelle: Lets get him on a back board. Give him D-50 to get him hydrated.
Woman: He was having a seizure?
Owen: Sure seems that way.
Woman: Chad I am so sorry I did not beat you out of anger, and I really need you to know that.
Marjan: Well that's one way to hit on a guy.
They are now off shift. 5 days later Judd found out it was Owen's idea not the departments, he also made Owen see he needed to think about the crew as well as him self. Billy and Owen went playing golf and Billy got struck by lightning. Owen carried him miles to the clubhouse before restarting his heart and keeping him alive. They are now back on shift.
Mateo: I can't believe he's still alive. I mean what are the odds?
Marjan: Pretty good, actually. About 90% of people who get struck by lightning live.
Paul: How do you know that?
Marjan: I'm from florida, lightning strike capital of the world. And an inordinate amount of them happen on the golf course.
Judd: Yeah thats why I'm gonna stick to bowling.
Ev: You never invite me bowling.
Judd: Hey TK--
Tk: Mhmm.
Judd: What do you see in there?
Tk: He's still in there.
Judd: Yeah, I know he's still in there, TK, 'cause he ain't come out yet. Who's doing the talking?
TK: The deputy chief. Oh, he's getting up.
Judd: Both of 'em?
TK: Yeah.
They come down and shake hands before the deputy chief walks out.
Owen: You missed a spot.
He walks off to the kitchen we all walk towards him and just look at him waiting for answers. He however seems to be too busy making a coffee.
TK: Well?
Owen: Well what?
TK: Everyone can relax. When he's this glib, its-its always good news.
Judd: No, come on, Cap. What'd the man say?
Paul: Is he still gonna make you take that test?
Owen: Turns out I already did.
TK: When?
Owen: When I carried a grown man from the 12th hole to the clubhouse in under 4 minutes.
Marjan: In the rain.
Owen: In the rain.
TK: And you saved a man's life.
Owen: Yeah, broke a couple of his ribs in the process.
Mateo: Nice one Cap.
Ev: I think me and you need to go over toming again.
Mateo: Yeah about saving a man's life I mean.
Owen: Turns out the deputy chief says, that's more than enough demonstration of my fitness in the field.
Judd: Well it also dont hurt that he's down a captain now.
Owen: Yeah, Billy has a long and painful recovery ahead of him.
Ev: I-I need to go.
Judd: What was that about?
Marjan: Shoukd I go see if she's okay?
Paul: No! Leave her im sure she'll be okay in a minute or two.
