Chapter 4

Ethan's POV
He's so innocent or at least seemed to be. While I'm driving him home he starts falling asleep.it makes sense he did stay awake the whole time even after the movie ended. He only lives around 5 minutes away and I could probably run to his house if I really needed to. I pull into his driveway and see him attempt to leave before I can even get his number. So in response i grab his hand

"Am i not going to receive a phone number before you leave? " i say while smiling

"You actually want my phone number? " he says hesitantly  as he turns back to face me.

"can i not want it " I reply back in a heart beat.

"you  can have it, its not a problem "

He gives me his phone. I start putting my number in and decide to name myself "Ethan 🥱" i hand it back to him.he looks at his phone and i see a bit of blush appear on his face.

"I'll see you tomorrow?" i say while pulling out of his driveway

"yea cya!" he says excitedly.

On my way to my house I decided I'll actually show up to school tomorrow for fun. It's not like im going because of him. Maybe it is but that is besides the point.i soon arrive at my house to see my dad. Great. This unbearable shithead is at home. It's usually uncommon for him to be at home hes almost all the time blackout drunk on the side of the road. when i enter the house I immediately hear his aggravating voice

"Can we talk?" he says sternly

"About?" I retort back

"Me, I can't handle you and your brother."

"That's not a surprise you are a full adult man who makes more than enough to support himself and his kids but you decide not to and spend all your money on alcohol instead of being a good dad. No wonder you can't handle me and Nate.

"I know, Its about me leaving" he says as he looks down

I look at him and the room goes silent.

"You're going to leave both of your kids with no adults?" i feel my eyes start to water but I need an answer

"I have a plan. I can't mentally deal with having 2 teenagers so I'll be taking a break. I'll give you about $6,000 per month for you and your brother. "

the room goes silent again

I can't help but smile, I walk up to his room grab the nearest suitcase and start packing up his things. Does he think I would be mad that hes leaving us with money? Hell no, it's a win in my book. I was already taking care of Nate and myself before but now I actually have some money to go off of. I quickly finish packing up his things quickly since he only has business attire that's really well kept and then normal clothes that look more like scraps with stains on them

I lug down this suitcase and drop it on the floor. I'll be damned if I kindly hand this guy anything

"Will you be paying our bills or is that included with the $6,000 ?" I mutter while catching my breath.

"Ill pay that separately from the 6,000" He says as he picks up his suitcase and heads out the door.

I head back upstairs to see Nate peacefully sleeping on his desk.

"Yo, Nate wake up and go to or you're going to have crazy back pain by tomorrow morning"

"mhnh alright im upp" he says groggily managing to pull himself up and plop onto his bed.

"alright goodnight." I tell him as I shut his door.

I hop into my bed and let the blankets engulf me. I open my phone to see that Lucas has texted me

Lucas:Hello this is Ethan right?

Ethan: i presume your Lucas then right?

Lucas: Mhm spot on

Ethan: so what have you been up to while I was gone🤨

Lucas: Nothing actually I've just been trying to fall asleep

Ethan: alright sorry for disturbing you

Lucas: It's fine but i should really be heading to sleep

Ethan: Alright gn

Lucas: yeah gn

Next day~

I awake to my brother shoving and pushing me.

"Wake up, school starts in an hour and 30 minutes " he states in a hurry.

"Alright I understand can you stop assaulting me" I sigh as I tell him while running my hands through my hair.

He hurries an runs off to his room. I enter the bathroom and take a shower. After I finish showering I do my simple routine that consists of putting on deodorant, apply vanilla scented cologne and start looking for a half decent outfit.I find some baggy blue jeans pared with a navy blue graphic t-shirt. I have no need to style a jacket over it. Its just school after all. " Yo, are you ready Nate?" I holler out. "Yea i'm in the car!" I can barely hear him but I can make out what hes saying. I leave the house to see Nate in the car. I enter the car and put my seat belt on and start driving.

-They arrive at school

I see Lucas waiting for something or someone and start walking towards him. He lights up while staring at me.
"Do I have something on my face" I say while feeling my face to find something out of the ordinary, I come to find out there's nothing there and hes just plainly staring at me.

"You're just super conventionally attractive" he says nonchalantly as we start walking to first period

"Thanks you're also very attractive in my eyes." I say with a quickness

we don't say anything after that and head to class where Lucas and I sit together. We head there early before the girls who always sit behind me appear. We talked about the school's layout and checked his schedule. And surprisingly we have all classes together except last period. Then those annoying girls who sit behind me start rushing in. It's not like I just dislike them for no reason.One of these hyenas said they liked me. I didn't even know her so naturally I declined. they have been sitting behind asking things like "What don't you like about her" or "maybe he doesn't like woman" and it's really starting to piss me off.
"Ethan?" Lucas asks concerned
"Huh, what?" I respond back
"Why did your mood change so quickly" it's almost like he's trying to whisper.
" look directly behind us" now I'm trying to be discreet
I didn't know this but I soon found out that Lucas is not a very secretive person. He turned around and looked at all 3 of them. It was usually 4 girls but the girl I rejected hasn't been showing up to school
"Your names Lucas right?" One girl said while trying to put on some last minute make up.
"Mhm yea, but that's beside the point though. Can you move ?" He says with a new look on his face.
The girls start looking at each other nervously and eventually leave. That was amazing
"That was cool as fuck dude" I say to him before the teacher walks in. He seems like a genuine guy.
