"Bullshit! I saw him getting married to the girl he kidnapped, and it wasn’t you!” Farooq revealed as his eyes darkened his anger at catching his daughter's lies.

“What? No, he's married to me. I was the girl–” Amal's words cut short as she felt a throbbing pain on her cheek, its force making her stumble on her feet. Amal rubbed her cheek to calm the burning sensation, however it didn't help at all. She couldn't believe she had been slapped by her father, the same girl who stayed away from everything that might invite any sort of anger from her father.

Her mother and brother had always been her shield against every sort of danger coming her way. But today, no one was there. Her mother was dead and her brother didn't want anything to do with her.

“Lies! Tell me the truth, where were you?” Farooq questioned again.

Amal felt helpless, there was no way he would believe her.

“Khizr's house” Amal responded quietly, awaiting the next attack on her.

“Stop lying, Amal. I checked his house, every single room and yet there was no sign of you.” Amal looked up to her brother when he spoke for the first time, confusing her more with his revelation.

Amal frowned at his words until Sarah's words came into her mind, the woman who helped Amal get ready on her nikkah day. Amal recalled how she talked about Khizr's private residence, maybe her brother visited him there?

“That must be his private residence. He hid me somewhere else, hours away from this area, bhai.” Amal explained, hoping her brother would understand her. Raheem frowned at his sister's words, but shrugged it off when he heard his father.

“Stop with the lies! I have my men around his other residences. Had they seen any suspicious activity, they would've reported it!” Farooq glared at his daughter who spoke blatant lies.

“He did really marry me–”

“Jis Khizr ko mein jaanta hoon, agar usne tumse shaadi ki hoti ya kidnap kia hota toh aise haal mein na chorhta tumhe.Humari izzat uchaalta sab ke samne ke Farooq shah apni ghar ki aurton ki hifazat nhi kr skta!” Amal noticed how her father's eyes darkened with every word. She did not know the reason behind Khizr and her father's hate, and she'd rather not know. All she wanted back was her peace and regularity. These two men could continue their wars for all she cared!

[If the Khizr who I know had kidnapped you, he wouldn't have left you in this state. He would have tarnished my honour in front of everyone, how Farooq shah can't protect his own womenfolk!]

“Baba–” it was as if Amal's voice has triggered another form of anger inside him, Farooq raised his hand once again to discipline his daughter and a sound of a slap echoed through the room. Amal closed her eyes tightly waiting for the pain, but it never came.

“I'll talk to her, Baba. You don't need to worry.” Amal slightly opened her eyes when she heard the voice of her brother, who stood as a shield between her and their father.

Farooq scoffed, staring at his son who took the slap on behalf of his daughter, “Take her away from my sight before I dig her grave and bury her in this very room.”

“Bhai, yakeen krein I have done nothing wrong. He forced me into that marriage and held me captive.” Amal explained herself with tears, staring at her brother who was busy applying a balm on her slap mark she had been gifted with. Not caring about the mark on his cheek, it had a little blood because he got scratched by her father's ring.
