"We always said
'We're okay'
Even if we're not,
Why? Cause that's
the nature of being
human."

[ Lily's P.O.V]

I hate school.

Today has been an absolute disaster. Let me start from the very beginning.

I overslept, as per usual, but there was something different about today. The sun's rays peeked through the curtains, casting a warm glow on my face, coaxing me to stay in bed a little longer. Reluctantly, I dragged myself out from under the cozy covers, my limbs heavy with sleep.

Is it already morning?!

With a groan, I stumbled towards the bathroom, still half-asleep. The tiles beneath my feet were cool and smooth, sending a shiver up my spine. I turned on the shower, expecting a rush of warm water to wake me up, but to my dismay, only icy droplets greeted me. I let out a yelp, goosebumps forming on my skin as the cold water cascaded down my body.

Talk about a rude awakening!

I quickly grabbed my towel, wrapping it tightly around myself for warmth. My teeth chattered as I hurriedly tried to wash away the sleepiness. Each movement was exaggerated, my body shivering involuntarily. I could feel the cold water seeping into my bones, jolting me awake in an instant.

As I finished my freezing shower, I couldn't help but let out a breath of steamy air, a cloud of mist forming around me. I wiped the foggy mirror with my hand, revealing my reflection.

My cheeks were flushed from the cold, but there was a spark of determination in my eyes. No matter how rough the start, I was ready to face the day with my signature smile.

As I made my way downstairs I didn't notice that my dad's new wife was in our house, again.

"Dad the shower was broken," I didn't finish my sentence when I saw her.

"Sorry, honey. I'll get the heater fixed soon," my dad's wife, Caren, said with a forced smile.

Is this your house?

She was sitting beside at the sofa with my dad. My mom passed away two years ago, and five months ago my dad introduce me to this girl named Caren, and to make matter's worst this girl had a daughter my age, tho I didn't meet her yet, but I don't want to know her.

I rolled my eyes and headed outside, I've decided to skip breakfast, avoiding eye contact with her. As I passed by, I couldn't help but overhear her conversation with my dad.

"Is she always like this?" Caren asked.

"She's just going through a tough time," my dad replied, defending me.

Tough time? More like tough luck, I thought bitterly.

Thankfully, I won't have to see her face often because I'm planning to move out and live on my own.

Take that, Caren!

Since my school is just a short walk away from home, I take my sweet time getting there. I've never been a fan of school anyway. It feels more like a burden, a prison for souls like mine. But hey, at least I have my own unique way of making the best out of it.

As I made my way to school, the weather was surprisingly pleasant. I spotted two adorable birds flying in the sky, and for a moment, they brought a smile to my face. But of course, luck wasn't on my side. Those little devils decided to poop on my bag!

Can you believe it?

"Seriously? Out of all the places, they had to choose my bag," I grumbled, trying to wipe off the mess with a tissue.
