I woke up to Tommy tapping me, handing me a piece of bread, "Where'd you get that?" he pointed up and I could see Chuck smiling through the gate,

"You'll run better on a full stomach." he chuckled
"Thanks Chuckie." I gobbled down the piece of bread,
I noticed him looking at his hand, "what've you got there?" I mumbled, my mouth still full of bread.

"That looks pretty damn good," I smiled? but Chuck's face slowly turned into a frown, "It's for my parents." he looked down "You remember them?" I took another bite of my bread,

"No. I mean, I know I must have them. And wherever they are, I'm sure they miss me... but I can't miss them because I don't remember them."

"What do you think you're gonna find out there tomorrow?" he quickly changed the subject, I could see his eyes were tearing up.

I didn't know what to say,

"We don't know. But if there's a way out, Chuck, me, Mei, and Minho are gonna find it." Thomas interrupted, giving the boy a reassuring smile.

"Here," Chuck handed me the tiny wooden doll,
"Chuck, why would you give this to me?" I looked down at the doll, my fingers tracing the grooves he carefully etched.

"You're the closest thing I've had to family mei, I want you to keep it." I looked at him with awe, touched by what he had just said, I wouldn't know what to do if I lost him. I held his hand through the gate,

"I'm gonna get us all out of here, I promise."
"Alright," he sniffled, wiping away his tears.

"Goodnight Chuck," "Goodnight buddy," we both told him as he walked off back to the homestead.

As the sun rose, I could hear the sound of keys jingling, I realized I was still in Thomas' arms, and I jolted up, making him fall to the ground, a loud groan could be heard as he sat up,

"Hope you guys did nothing suspicious down there,"
I looked up to see Minho. He looked upset, but he was trying to cover it up with humor.

"We aren't running today, It's too risky. Rest up, because tomorrow, we are heading out to see what that key can do." he walked off, leaving me and Thomas alone.

As Minho walked away, I felt the guilt for accidentally causing Thomas to fall. I extended my hand to help him up, but he waved it off, standing up on his own.

"Are you okay?" I asked, concern lacing my voice.

Thomas nodded, rubbing his back. "Yeah, just a bit sore. Minho's right, though. We should rest up for tomorrow."
