CH 7: A metal benders Job

Toph POV

Silenced echoed throughout my room. Nothing to do. No one to talk too. Ive been awake for the past two hours. But I was still in bed. "Im so bored" I think to myself. A pause I tryed to remember everything I can fo in the fire nation. "I hope that arena thing open". I think to myself as I drag myself out of bed.

I walked out of my room. Being in this palace felt akin to my previous home with my family. "The so I've been told beautiful home, a wealthy house that was others fanticise. But my prison. Allways being sheltered. What kind of a parent would do that to their own flesh and blood" ? I think to myself as I walk. I knock on Aangs and Kataras room before entering. "Hey are you guys here"? I ask. No response is followed. "Huh, guess there gone". I say as I walk out and march into Sokka's room. "Hey Sokka wake up" I say as I walked towards his bed and shaked him. "No, its soooo early" Sokka wined as he turnd the other way. "Hey meathead, its only eight. I say. "Too early for a weekend". Sokka says as he burrys his head into a pillow.

I leave his room disapointed, then head out of the palace. The soothing sun rays hit me. "Its time to kick some ass". I say as I walk towards the arena, praying that someone is there. "I hate going places alone... After all thease years Im still doing stuff alone. I dont know what I expected. That my friends will be beside me every momment". I think to myself. "No, they should be with me not for every momment. But if they can, I want to hang out with them... do they not want to hang out with me"? I think to myself.

"Everyday was me getting up, eating, teaching metalbending, and sleeping. For four long years I never did anything outside of that. Never made a new friend, never went out to some other place. Just the same thing like a mashine. Day after day. And nkw that I have my friends they dont want to hang out"?! I think to myself again. "No, maybe im thinking too deep. They all just have other plans. besides Sokka" I mutter to myself.

I arrive at the arena and theres two other people. From what I can infer from my seismic sence it was two guys around 5'11 6'00. And they had more of a lean body type. "Is that the girl who beat the avatar in an earthbending match" one of them said as they jumped right towards me. His voice made it clear to me that he was a young adult around his early twentys. "Yes" I say bluntly.

"Yup" he says. "Yup what"? I ask him. "I can take you in a fight" he says. And like a balloon being popped I bursted out laughing at him. "Whats funny fog eyes"? He asks slightly annoyed. "Im the greatest Earthbender in the world. And your like what, some rando"? I say wiping a tear from my eye. "Earthbending has nothing on firebending". He says with a smug smile.

"Prove it"! I say smirking. "Its about time I kicked someones ass" I say as I jump onto the arena and points towards his general direction. "Mako, you sure you want to do this"? His friend asked him. "Oh please, look at her. She looks like she just started thinking about asking out the prettyist boy in her class" Mako says in a mockying voice as he jumps onto the arena. "And you look like a man who got voted as the most profoundly hideous person in your school" I say back. "Well actually, back at senior year I was voted for-" Mako trys to respond before I Yell "DONT CARE, ARE YOU READY TO KNOW WHAT HUMILIATION FEELS LIKE LAME-O" I yell.

"That nickname sucks"! Mako says as he prepares a fighting stance.

I focus my seismic sence. I feal him move his arm back. After he adjusts his foot position. The momment he pushs his arm forward I flick my arm towards him, shifting the ground knocking him off balance. "Ha"Mako makes a nervous laugh as he stumbles back ontop his feet and launchs a heetwave of fire towards me. I lift my arm up and a giant stone slab emerges from the ground and blocks his fire. I push my arms towards the ground and launch a boulder from the ground directly under Mako's feet sending him flying. "HOW DARE YOU"! he says before kicking an angled flame towards me mid fall.

I raise my hand towards his voice and make a punch like motion sending another stone slab out and hitting him directly into his chest sending him off tge arena. "Dont tell me you cant handle a girl"! I say with a smile on my face. His friend picks up Mako before running off without a response to my insult. "This isnt fun" I say as I kick a rock. "That guy couldnt even take a little dirt." I mutter. I fall back and sit down in the middle of the arena. The feeling of loneliness seeping back in like the night and day.

"He talked all that saying stuff like 'she just started thinking about asking out the prettyist boy in her class'. so stupid". I say under my breath. "I dont even like anyone" I think to myself. I begin thinking back to a few days ago, after my rematch with Aang. "Were we...flirting" I thought suddonly shaking my head, blushing slightly. "No! We're just friends. Plus he's with Katara... that wouldnt work out". I think to myself taking in the fresh air. "No. Then again we were giggiling alot. And our whole interaction was awkward but... happy. I had butterflys in my stomach- You know what thats enough of that" I think to myself as I get up.

"Maybe we were flirting- SHUT UP! Your job is to be the best earthbender, help team avatar, and teach metalbending. You have no time for any of this romance crap. Wether he was or not you-I need to let that go. Thats not our job. Besides Toph incase your forgetting, HE IS DATING KATARA"! I scream at myself in my head. As I walk out of the arena.

"Ok, normal thoughts from now on" I think to myself. "In gonna do something cool! By myself... yep". I say as I start to walk again. "Life is still boring no excitment." I think to myself hoping something random happens. "Anyone. Strongest earth bender here. No friend to save me. Im blind. Would be awful if someone trys to fight me or I bump into someone I know" I say.

"I hate this" I think to myself. "Might ad well head back to the palace" I think to myself, disapointed that today has been lonly and boring. I walk through a crowd of people hoping someone I know will come up to me which doesnt happen.

I sigh as I walk closer to tge palace. From what I could tell it would be another five minutes. "What can I do at the palace." I ponder to myself scraching my chin. "Nothing". I say. I stop and try to distract myself tge same way I usually do. Focus my seismic sence. "Its nice being able to see with my feet. Finding every detail in the ground. Seeing every nook and crany around me. The roots of the trees. People running for their life-! What the hell!" I say as I run towards the feeling. I dive into the ground and use my earthbending to burrow into the ground. When im fully sumerged I can basically glide through the dirt like im flying. "Who are they running from"? I think to myself.

As I approach them ny seismic sence tells me that one of their heartbeets are fast. Like their life in in danger. I spped up and pop of from the ground. The rocks flying past me as I cut the person off.

I land on my feet and stare at the person who was chasing the other one. No words. In an instant the man  launchs an icicle towards my head which I block with a small dirt wall before launching the wall towards him. "Didnt expect a waterbender" I say. He uses his water bending and manipupates the water on the wet dirty ground and makes an aqua ring around himself which I see with their being a decent amount of dirt in the water. He launchs a barradge of icicles towards me which I make a stone wall that keeps on shifting to block each one as I advance towards him.

He makes a focused beam of water that puerces right through the stone nearly hitting me.

I raise both my hands in the sky before clapping them together. Two large stone claps engulf the man as he is unable too move. "Why were you chasing him" I tell him. "He owes us some money" he says bluntly. "Is this true" I say as the other guy walks up nervoisly and says "y-yes". I stare in silence. "Well I guess your not gonna get that money I say as i flick my hand forawards and the man trapped between the stone slabs gets pushed away into the dirt roads.

"Thanks for the save" he says. "Your welcome, dont get yourself into trouble" I say as I begin tk walk away. "Hey, I appriciate what yiu did. Wanna get something to eat"? He asks me. I stop in silence thinking. "No" I say coldly as I walk out faster.

"And great Im lost now" I say. "Where is the palace" I think to myself

Hours later, now it's night time. I walk  towards the palace. "A metalbenders job". I say to myself as I approached the gates. "Oh hey Toph" Katara says as her and Aang walked up to me. "Hey" I say with my hand on the gate. "Where have you been" Aang asks. "Around" I say as I open the gate and hold it up for them. "Ok" Aang asks as he and Katara entered the gates followed by me.

"Wait... how would he even pay for the food"? I think to myself.

Just to let everyone know chapters 7, 6, and 5 all took place all in the sane day
