Chapter 3

It was a beautiful spring day. The birds were chirping, the sun was shining and Kakashi, then 8 years old, decided to use this wonderful day to train. He didn't really see the point in wasting his precious time playing games and other stuff. In his eyes, it didn't do much for him in the future. Even if his father saw it differently...

He eagerly got dressed, said goodbye to his father with the promise of being back for dinner before nightfall and then literally stormed off. He had so much to practice... The silver-haired man wanted to become a strong shinobi later, just like his father. Like his father, he wanted to do great things for the village and for the clan. Full of energy, he ran to the training ground. As had often been the case lately, he noticed the disparaging looks from the other villagers. However, he couldn't really assess them...

It was already quite late and, above all, the sun was just beginning to set when Kakashi realized that he had overdone his training and would now be a little late. He collected his shurikens and kunais and then raced home. He didn't know why, but he had a strange feeling on the way home. His father had been acting quite strange lately. This one hardly ate at all anymore... It also seemed as if he was hardly able to sleep at all during the night. Deep shadows were beneath him. In Kakashi's eyes they seemed to get darker every day, but he hadn't dared to speak to him about it. But what struck him most was the fact that the villagers seemed to avoid him. They even somehow avoided him... The silver-haired man couldn't really explain it. He and his father had done nothing wrong. Although he had noticed that his father's last mission had failed, he couldn't imagine that that was exactly the reason.

He opened the door to her house and took off his sandals. Then he suddenly stopped what he was doing. It was quiet. Far too quiet... Maybe his father was lying down? He sniffed briefly and smelled... nothing... Didn't his father want to cook? Alarmed, he ran into the kitchen, but found it empty and in the same condition as this morning. Quite confused, he closed the door to the kitchen again.
"Otousan?"
There was no answer. His stomach clenched.
//He's probably sleeping.//
The persuasion didn't help. The bad feeling just wouldn't go away. He needed certainty.
He slowly climbed the stairs, walked past his room and almost hesitantly opened the door to his father's bedroom. Unaware of anything other than finding his father sleeping, he entered the room... and stiffened abruptly.

His father wasn't in bed sleeping like he expected... He was lying on the floor. His blood was spread all around him.

Kakashi's hands balled into fists. The silver-haired man immediately realized that this was not murder. His father himself had finally explained to him the characteristics of a murder and... a suicide.

He dared to take a step closer. The face seemed almost relaxed. There was the slightest smile on his lips. Kakashi began to shake. He tried hard to hold back tears. But it didn't achieve much. Soon thick, salty drops of water began to ooze from the corners of his eyes.
"Are you happy you left me here alone?"
There was no answer. Why? His father was dead and would remain so forever.
How would he survive the next few years without him? Why had he killed himself in the first place? He didn't understand. Wasn't it worth it to his father, at least even when he didn't seem to be doing well, to be there for his only son? Apparently not. He hadn't said a word to the silver-haired man. In the morning everything still seemed to be in order. He had said goodbye... and his father had smiled and wished him success and asked him to be on time for dinner.

What would have happened if he hadn't left? What if he hadn't gone training? Wouldn't his father have committed suicide? He shook his head silently. No. None of that would have helped... His father would have just done it another day.

The silver-haired man felt betrayed and abandoned.
Kakashi collapsed to his knees, bent over, covered his eyes with his hands and cried bitterly. Now he was alone. All alone...

Kakashi:

His situation was hopeless. Tied up and tied like a package, he had no choice but to cooperate. At least he should if he wanted to live on. The two didn't seem to be here to joke.
"What do you want?" he asked, sounding calm.
"We don't want anything. Our leader wants something from you, you bum!" Hidan grumbled and swung the scythe as if he wanted to perform a few tricks with it.
Kakashi narrowed his eyes. This guy was more than unpleasant to him.
"Hidan! Get a hold of yourself!"
"Why then, miser? We had to sail halfway around the world because of that asshole!"
"You can overdo it, you idiot!"
"If I may say something: What does your leader want from me?" he interrupted the beginning of the argument between the two.
Kakuzu turned back to him while Hidan crossed his arms with a pout.
"Our leader wants you in Akatsuki. And don't even try"To talk you out of it..."
"Ok," he said simply.
There was nothing else he could do anyway. There were two of them and he was alone and injured too. That couldn't go well.
"Then I guess we'll force you to- What? What now?! You just say yes? You asshole don't want to fight or anything?"
Hidan seemed to be blown away by his astonishment. Apparently he hadn't expected that.
"Let's just be happy about it and take him with us now," said Kakuzu, rolling his eyes and using his strings to pull the silver-haired man a little closer.
"But I have one condition!" he interjected.
"Oh Jashin! I knew there was a problem with this thing!" Hidan grumbled in annoyance.

The masked man stopped what he was doing and narrowed his eyes.
"We don't meet any conditions!"
He mentally rolled his eyes. That it had to be the two of them...
"It probably won't work any other way. I'm injured and therefore useless for your leader."
Kakuzu seemed to be thinking. Then suddenly stitches came out of his right arm.
"Then I'll just stitch up the wound and we'll save ourselves this back and forth."
"You can forget that! I won't let myself be stitched up with these... things... It'll leave me with a disgusting scar," he panted, internally hoping that his counterpart had enough control not to simply crush him with his stitches.
"Are you serious, you wanker?!"
"What suggestion do you have?"
Hidan stared at his partner with his mouth open.
"You want to let him get away with shit?!"
"Hidan! Just shut up every now and then!"
The person addressed puffed out his cheeks. Since the silver-haired man didn't really feel like getting into another argument, he quickly said:
"My deal would be that you find me a kunoichi to heal me... and in return I'll join the Akatsuki without any ifs or buts. Deal?"

There was silence. He looked questioningly at the two Akatsuki members. Hidan seemed to dagger him with his gaze while his partner stared thoughtfully at the sky. Apparently that cheeky Hidan didn't really have a say when it came to decisions, because Kakuzu simply said:
"Deal..."
