A DRUNKARD'S QUEST FOR REDEMPTION

The dilemma that led to my distasteful emotions is bitter,
So, I sip some alcohol to make my being sweeter.
Oh, what a fine liquor!
My mind usually says as I drink to stupor.
Some are cowards,
While some are drunkards.
I know I'm both.
People think I'm both.

Why am I so weak?
My foolishness seems to be at its peak.
All I think about is alcohol,
No thought of dealing with my problems once and for all.

A weakling,
A dummy,
My conscience keeps chanting.
It's high time I stopped this habit.
I want a change in my life.
I want to stop my inner strife.

Alcohol, I need no longer consume,
A new me need not dare resume.
I will try to be a better man,
I will do the best I can.
