"Hermione was met with an accident."

Nedvar felt his whole body go numb. He could hardly digest the words that left Carlo's mouth. His mind was blank, throat dry, knees weak.

Nedvar was a man who could control all his emotions at all times. He had mastered the art of remaining stoic, even in the most challenging moments. But now, he felt completely unmoored, the weight of the situation bearing down on him.

He turned to see Ethan running towards him, a big smile lighting up his face. Nedvar slightly bent down and picked his baby into his arms. Ethan hugged his dada tightly, breathing heavily from excitement.

Sofia dashed inside, her arms stretched wide, eyes gleaming as she reached for Ethan. He squealed loudly as he tightened his grip around Nedvar's neck.

"Sof, take Ethan upstairs. Dinner will be sent there, and please put him to sleep," Sera, Aldo's wife, instructed, a note of urgency in her voice. Sofia frowned, glancing between her mother, Clair, who wore a pained expression with tears rolling down her cheeks, and the rest of the family, who had also fallen into a worried silence.

"What happened? Ma, why are you crying?" Sofia asked, stepping towards her mother, concern etched on her face.

Mama Clair wrapped her arms around her younger daughter without uttering a word. Sofia, sensing the gravity of the situation, consoled her mother, "Everything will be alright."

"Silly met with an accident," Carlo whispered, his voice barely above a whisper. Sofia's eyes widened in shock. She whipped her head towards Carlo, her gaze filled with urgency. "Why are we here? Let's go to whatever hospital she's in! Carlo, don't just stand there—"

"Leo is bringing her," Carlo said softly, squeezing her shoulder for reassurance.

"Leo was on the same road when Vee's car crashed. She collided with a wall while turning at the signal in a hurry," Carlo explained. Nedvar's mind raced with thoughts of potential attacks from enemies, wondering if Hermione was deliberately targeted.

"Leo informed me that not much damage was done. Vee hit her head on the window and is currently unconscious. He took her to the nearest hospital," Carlo continued, his words only heightening Nedvar's anxiety. He rose from his seat, holding Ethan in his arms, who was already dozing off after a long day of play.

Nedvar carried Ethan upstairs, changing him and helping him freshen up. Once Ethan was in his nightshirt, decorated with "Dada's Babyboy" print, Nedvar made sure he ate a little dinner. Ethan insisted on waiting for his mama, but Nedvar gently explained that she was busy and would feed him tomorrow.
