Adam and I sit at the new dining table enjoying our coffee when we hear a knock at the door. I stare at the front door confused, I push my chair back and stand up, about to find out whose there when Adam stops me by grabbing my waist, I look at him in question "Sit your ass down, we don't know who at the door" he demands before walking and opening the front door.

Fiona stands at the door, fidgeting her fingers, and looks at Adam nervously, she looks behind him at me with a pleading look. I place my cup down with a sigh and make my way over. I place a hand on Adam's back "Go, get ready for work, I'll be okay" I reassure him and watch as he stubbornly makes his way to get ready.

I look back at Fiona and gesture for her to come in. We walk to the kitchen table and I walk to grab her a cup of coffee. "what are doing here?"  she sips her coffee nervously "I'm sorry, comparing you to Monica and Frank was really bad, It was a heat of the moment thing for me, and I'm really sorry ro" I stare at her before sighing "It was fucked up" I say bluntly. She nods her head "yeah I know" we stare at each other before we both start to laugh.

I shake my head "I forgot how much of a bitch you can be" she laughs harder before take a deep breath "yeah." I smile at her and reach across to where her hand sits on the table and hold her hand "I forgive you fi" I say.

I shut the door behind Fi and turn around, Adam leans against the wall with his arms crossed and a bland look on his face. I shrug my shoulders "what?" he shook his head pushes himself off the wall over to me "you forgive to easily" he says.

I tilt my head to him "she's my sister, and plus we all make mistakes, some usually bigger then others and right now I'd rather get past the argument" I rambled.

He looks at me with an emotionless look, he nods and reaches down to kiss my forehead "I get it" is all he says, and watch as he walks into the kitchen. I stare at his retreating figure slightly confused by his attitude.

"And then he said I forgive too easily" I hand the customer their beer and turn to Kev and V. Veronica looks at me confused "You forgive too easily?, the woman who didn't talk to me for a month cause I took the last cinnamon roll" she smirks at me, I stare her with a blank look and look to Kev. He shrugs as he starts to clean up the bar

"look Adam has his days where he's kinda unemotional, angry, and mean, it's been like that since we were younger" I stare at him with an eyebrow up "But why?" I ask, Kev shrugs again "I don't know, he started doing it when he got out of the military" I look away from the pair and stare at the bar top trying to think.

I bend down grab my bag and keys and run around the bar "I'll be back!" I shout, run out of the bar, and walk down the street.

I looked around the construction sight "Yo! D! your girls here!" I turn around and see a heavy-set guy with a hard hat and clipboard smiling at me, he points behind him and I see Adam walk out from the building wearing his work clothes that are completely coated in dirt.

He looks at me confused and somewhat worried and he stands in front of me "Are you okay? you never visit me at work like this" He asks, taking his hat and protective glasses off. I look at him and try to muster up the nerve to ask "Why were you being weird this morning?" I blurt out.

He looks down at me for what feels like forever and crosses his arms "It wasn't about the the issue with you and Fiona" he explains, "okay? if not that then why's going on?" I ask. He groans "Because, six years ago today I watched my best friend get shot and killed" he looks off to the side. I stare at him in shock, I did not expect that. I look around and walk closer to him.

I use my hands and till his head so he is looking at me and whisper to him "I'm sorry baby, I didn't know" he shakes his head and puts his hands on my hips "You didn't know baby, I can't blame you for being confused" I smile up at him sadly.

"What was his name?" he smiles sadly at the sky "Derek. We met at my first station and have been friends ever since" I watch as the anguish crosses his face until he smiles at the sky gently "I've gotten better but some days it hits me a little harder than normal" he explains.

I shake my head and kiss him gently "Baby, it's okay if you feel down some days, no one expects you to be headstrong every day, you're allowed to feel things outside of happiness" I pause "Just promise me that if you ever feel like this you'll tell me?" I ask. He looks down at me with an emotion in his eyes I can't figure out.

He pulls my head to him and kisses me hard, the kiss takes my breath away, and he pulls back so we can both breathe, eyes closed I try to catch my breath before peeping at him and smiling "I'll take that as a yes?" I suggest he laughs nodding "Yes baby, I will tell you " I nod at him before clapping my hands gently on his chest and pushing him backward slightly "Go, go back to work and I'll see you at home later" he nods and gives me one last kiss on the forehead before walking back to the construction building.

I watch him enter before I make my way back to the bar to finish my shift.
