Clinic Day

It had been a restless night. The station had been busy with calls on and off, nothing major but definitely the kind of shift where getting a decent night sleep just wasn't possible. Maya was actually grateful for two reasons-she didn't sleep long enough to have the nightmare and it took her mind off of missing Carina and Liam more than usual. Glancing at her watch, Maya decided to just lay down and close her eyes for a bit before she needed to head downstairs and help set up for clinic day. She had just dozed off when she felt the bed move followed by lips pressing against her own.

Maya smiled but didn't open her eyes.
"Mmmmm...is that you? My wife will be here soon so you'd better not let her catch you kissing me."
"Maya! No raga! You're not funny!"
Maya opened her eyes and smiled as she looked at Carina staring down at her. She grabbed her wife and pulled her down to lay on top of her as she tried to kiss her again.
"Oh wait, you ARE my wife! I haven't kissed you in almost twenty four hours and I must have forgotten what your lips taste like. Kiss me again so I can remember."
Carina's eyebrow arched as she stared down at Maya before she broke into a smile and leaned in for a deep, probing kiss that lingered. Maya's hands found their way down to Carina's waist as she undid her pants and moved her fingers inside her wife's panties. From the other side of the door she heard Vic's voice.

Travis and Vic were giggling as Maya and Carina walked into the barn. Carina brushed her hand across Maya's ass and gave it a quick squeeze before moving off toward Warren and the supplies cart. Maya looked over at her friends before turning and heading toward Andy's office.
"Hey, got a minute?"
"What's up?"
"Carina set up the appointment, we go tomorrow when I get off shift."

"Andy, I'm so nervous on so many levels. Carina keeps telling me that my genes are not going to screw up our kids but-"
"I'm sorry, did you say 'kids'? Like more than one? Are you guys trying to build a relay team?"
Maya smiled and twirled her ring before answering.
"Well, I am a twin you know, and the fertility doctor said that there is a good chance. And...well...you know what never mind...forget it."
"Hey, c'mon, this is me...tell me."
Maya stared at her friend for a long minute.
"When I was in that coma, I...well...I-I saw Andrew."
"Andrew? Like, Carina's brother? Holy shit Maya...wha-what happened?"
"I don't remember everything, but he showed me a flash of Carina with a grown up Liam and our twins, a boy and a girl. They looked so much like Mason and I. I mean, I know it was all a what if, but still..."
"And you're worried that they might become your dad and brother? Maya, Carina is right, your genes don't determine your kid's personality. You and your wife are some of the most amazing people I know. You're going to raise great kids. Look at how well adjusted Liam is already. And besides, you guys aren't alone, you've got all of us. You got this."
"Thanks. I know I drive Carina crazy with my anxiety about it so it's a relief to hear it from somebody else. Ok, I'm going to get out there. Andy? I really appreciate you and our friendship."
"I feel the same way. Now get going Bishop, it's clinic day!"
The women exchanged smiles before Maya turned and headed back out into the barn.

It had been another successful clinic day at Station 19 and as it was winding down Maya was wheeling BP units back over to storage when two young women, one who was obviously pregnant, walked through the open barn door.
"Welcome to Station 19, what can we help you with?"
"We, ummm, we're looking for Doctor Deluca? They said at the hospital that she's here today."
"Well they were right, she's over there. Follow me."
Carina was finishing up making notes as Maya and the young women approached.
"Doctor Deluca? There's a couple of ladies here to see you."
Carina looked up from her tablet and smiled when she saw them.
"Ana! What are you doing here? And you must be Sandra? It's a pleasure to meet you. I'm Doctor Carina Deluca."
Carina held out her hand and Sandra shook it. Ana smiled nervously, staring at Maya before looking back at Carina.
"Oh my gosh I'm sorry, this is my wife Maya."
Ana's eyes brightened as she stuck her hand out toward Maya.
"Oh wow, you're Doctor Deluca's wife? Sandy, you do know who this is right? This is Maya Bishop! The Olympian! Remember?"
Carina's smile widened as Maya felt her cheeks blush. She didn't often get recognized but when it happened she always felt a bit embarrassed by her 'celebrity' status. Sandra extended her hand and smiled.
"I can't believe I'm shaking hands with an Olympian. You know, I ran track because you were so amazing and I wanted to be just like you. And Ana, well, let's just say we kind of struck up a conversation and connected because of you. So I guess we have you to thank for bringing us together."
"I'm flattered, thank you. But enough about me, I'll let you have your visit with my wife. We can talk some more later."
As Maya went to walk away, both women impulsively hugged her before turning to follow Carina into the exam cubicle. Maya waved once again before walking back into the reception area where Vic and Travis had been watching from the window.
"Oh my GOD Travis! It's Maya Bishop! Quick, quick take my picture with her!"
"Stop Vic! She's a big star! She doesn't have time for shit like that!"
Maya's face deadpanned them as she tried to hold back a laugh.
"Listen, I've always got time for the Make-A-Wish kids. What's wrong with you guys, are you permanent brain injury cases? Because I swear that's what happens when you get your asses beat for being ridiculous."
"Ahh we're just playing with you Bishop, it's actually pretty cool that you've got some fans. Hey, you wanna show 'em your medal? I can go up and get it for you!"
"Montgomery, you touch my medal again and you'll be sucking blueberries through a tube."
Maya laughed as Vic and Travis ran upstairs and was about to follow them when the desk phone rang.
"Station 19, this is Lieutenant Bishop, how can I help you?"
The voice on the other end sounded strained but familiar.
"Is that you dear? This is Eloise Van Buren, do you remember me?"
"Yes, of course Eloise, is everything ok?"
"Can you possibly come over here? It seems that Gertie got a bit of a burn when she was frying some chicken. It's not terrible so we didn't want to call 911."
"Of course Eloise, I'll send the Aid car right over. Have her keep her hand wrapped with some ice on it until we arrive, ok?"
Maya hung up just as Andy came down the stairs.
"Hey Captain, I know I'm on desk duty but can I go on this grease burn call? This sweet old lady I met the other day just asked me to come check on her wife."
Andy eyed Maya knowingly before she nodded.
"Yes, but you'll have to ride with Beckett. And Maya? No heroics, got it?"
Maya gave Andy a quick salute as she smiled and jogged out into the barn to look for Beckett. Carina was still in with Ana and Sandra so she just peeked her head in quick.
"Hey babe, I'll be back shortly. I'm going to check on this sweet old lady who just called me. MWAH!"
Before Carina could say a word, Maya took off and the next thing she knew, Maya was jumping up into the Aid car with Beckett and pulling out of the station parking lot.
