"I just want to go home to my mama!" Yu whines, his call for me seeping out of the open windows of the gym.
"You're fine," one of his teammates groans, making Yu whine again. "You get beat and bruised all the time. Stop whining."
"I want my mama though. Where's my pretty girl at? She's supposed to be here to watch our practice match. Where's my mamas?" He rambles, throwing a tantrum like a four-year-old.
I can't help but roll my eyes at the clinger, shoving the old gym door open. The rusting metal screams from being moved. Instantly, Yu shoots upright, knocking off whatever fake injury act he had going on. "Oh, hey mamas," he greets, a huge smile shining at me.
His cheek is a bit pink, putting the pieces together to what happened. In some way, shape, or form, he missed a receive and got pummeled in the face.
"Come here whiner," I tell him, wiggling my fingers around to motion him forward. I have full intention of coddling my baby until his practice match starts. From how quickly Yu is on his feet and running toward me, he's on the same thought pattern.
My boyfriend is shorter than me, not terribly shorter, but enough that it's noticeable. "Hey mama," he repeats, arms around my sides, and his chin easily resting on my breasts. My chin rests on the top of his head, shifting back and forth to mess with his spiked hair. Kissy noises spill from Yu, his lips butterflying over my neck as he clings to me.
"Hello baby," I coo, tilting my head so I can rest my cheek on his hair instead of my chin. "Why are you so whiney?"
Yu nuzzles my neck for a second before going back to peppering kisses into my skin. "Hinata and I were practicing receives and he got excited and spiked the ball. I wasn't expecting it and got a volleyball to the face."
"Oh, my poor baby," I half tease half coddle, a hand jumping up to cling to his hair, peeling Yu off of me.
He whines as I tug him off, greedy lips still trying to dance over my skin. "Come here, mamas. I want to keep tasting you. Your skin is so sweet and feels so soft. I want to keep kissing it. Mamas!" He rambles, trying to tighten his hold on my waist.
I giggle at his sad attempts to keep kissing up on me, continuing to tug on his hair until he's mostly peeled off of me. "You have too much energy," I hum, plopping kisses over his stinging cheek. "Hopefully your match will help burn some of that off."
"I'll always have energy for you, pretty girl," Yu flirts, wiggling his head to press kisses to my arm. "You're going to stay for the whole match, right?"
"Of course," I hum again, letting him go.
Yu instantly clicks into having the zoomies, jumping around as he prances back and forth in front of me. "Oh, oh, oh. Every receive is going to be for you baby. Every single one. I'm going to get so many receives. Blow me a kiss after everyone, alright? Everyone. I'll be looking."
"Okay, Yu," I agree, stifling the giggles the want-to-be Jack Russell is causing. "Let me go say hello to Tanaka," I coo, trying to herd him toward his gloomy friend, jealousy, and lovesickness for the team's manager waving off the spiker.
"Oh, good idea," he chirps, his fingers lacing up with mine before he starts bouncing across the court, dragging me along with him. "Tanaka, Tanaka, Tanaka! My lady wants to say hi. Say hi. Tanaka, hi!"
His friend cheers up a bit, the usual grin back on his face as we get closer. "Nishinoya-Chan," Tanaka teases me, Yu's thumb curling to toy with my promise ring, twirling it on my finger. "I hope you're going to cheer for me as much as you're going to cheer for Noya."
"Of course. After all my Noya can't do his part without badass spikers like you," I compliment, his smile growing wider at the small support I can offer him. "I brought everyone snacks too," I add, shaking Yu's hand out of mine before I start digging through my bag.
Both boys buzz, excited for the snacks I promised. I pull out the big bag full of mini-bags of snacks for all the players. There's a variety of goodie slices - carrots, apples, oranges, and cucumbers - so the boys have options. "No junk food?" Tanaka teases, trying to take a peek at the bag Yu has already snatched from me.
"I don't want to get yelled at by your coach for ruining your diet. Besides, you could lose a few pounds," I poke fun at him, stabbing my finger into his stomach.
"Hey, that's one hundred percent muscle, chica!" Tanaka barks, flexing with his arms next to his head to send his point home. "All lean, no fat."
"Expect that meathead of yours," one of the first years butts in. The tall blonde hovers behind Yu, eyeing the million bags of snacks I packed for the team. "If you ate all those, Noya, you'll be as round as you are short."
"I'm the perfect height, Tsukishima. All I have to do is tilt my head to get a face full of my mama's boobs. Your giraffe self has to bend down," Yu - sort of - brags, picking out a bag of carrots before passing it to Tanaka. He snaps a carrot between his teeth, nodding his head in agreement with himself.
"Whatever," the younger boy mutters under his breath, still eyeing the snacks.
"You can have some," I tell the mean kid, nodding toward Tanaka. "There's fifteen of each so everyone can have one. All the players, both the coaches and your manager." I send a wink toward Yu's friend during the last part, trying to encourage him to take a snack bag to his crush.
Tanaka catches on quickly, plucking a bag of cucumbers and a bag of apples out before handing it over to Mr. Attitude Problem. Yu and I both giggle at the sight of the spiker racing across the gym to offer his Senpai a snack.
"Make sure you share, youngster," Yu lectures his underling, pointing up at the blonde as he yells at him. Once the order is out, he snatches my hand again, fingers strung together to tug me away.
My Jack Russell drags me around, beelining for the door. I'm continually tugged on, out the door and down to the step of the gym. Yu leaves me long enough to close the gym door before he's back by my side. "Mamas," he sighs, stretching out on the slab of concrete, his head in my lap as he lays down.
"Baby?" I hum, toying with his spiky gelled hair. My eyes dance over Yu's beautiful features, enjoying his smooth peachy skin, his sharp amber eyes, the soft smile on his lips despite the carrot he's snacking on, his button nose, his dark raven hair, and the beautiful floppy blonde streak resting against his forehead.
"You're going to throw me off my game if you keep looking at me like that," he chuckles, shifting himself to look up at me better. Yu moves enough that a sunray hits his eyes just right. Instantly the brown pigment explodes into liquid gold, the sun helping his flawless skin glow even more.
I swear my heart stops for a moment, enjoying the pure beauty of my boyfriend, of the pure gold of his eyes. "I can't help but stare," I mutter, letting my fingers dance over his cheek, right under his eye. "Especially when you glow in a way that makes gods jealous."
Blood rushes to Yu's cheeks, painting the skin right under my fingertips. "Mamas!" He yelps, shooting upright. "You can't say stuff like that right before a game," he groans, rubbing his hands over his face, his bag of carrots forgotten in his lap.
"I'm sorry, Yu," I giggle, leaning over to rest my head on his shoulder. "I was just being honest," I add, sliding a drawn-out kiss against his neck.
My lips can feel the shiver sent through his body, an almost muted whimper following the bodily reaction. "I'm going to be so off my game," he whispers, tilting his head away, giving me more access to his skin for me to play with.
"Maybe I should stop then," I murmur against his throat, painting more dragged-out kisses across him.
Yu doesn't answer, his eyes lightly closed, hands balled up against the concrete to help keep himself upright, lips slightly parted to help him pump oxygen in and out of his lungs faster. He has to be an angel sent from the heavens. There's no way a normal person can be as gorgeous and as joyful as he is.
I offer one more kiss, teasing the skin with a bit of gentle sucking before I pull away. "Mamas?" He slurs, flopping his head toward me. Slowly, Yu's eyes open, back to the elegant mocha mixture they are in the shade. "You're such a tease," he half huffs, a sloppy grin on his face as he looks at me. "I swear, Mamas. If I'm a god I must be Dionysus and you must be a glass of wine because there's no greater pleasure than you."
"Now who's the smooth talker?" I mumble, tugging my eyes away from him as my body starts painting my cheeks in heated blood. I don't know why I bother flirting, Yu always beats me at it.
"Me. It's always me," he teases, one of his hands cupping my cheek, his thumb brushing across my bottom lip. He gently grips my face, turning it back toward himself. "Hey, pretty girl," Yu coos, his eyes melting from the love shining through them.
"Hey, handsome man." His smile grows from the small compliment, eyes somehow melting even more. "What are you thinking about?"
"A lot," he murmurs, leaning closer to start closing the gap between us. "But mostly the glorious dinner I'm going to take you to after my victory and then the wonderful sleepover I'm going to convince Grandpa to let us have."
Yu continues inching forward, his lips ghosting over mine, until the gym door slams open. The libro huffs, his warm breath coating my face before he backs away from me. His usual happy expression is nowhere to be seen, a deep frown on his lips and disappointment darkening his eyes. "Noya-San!" An excited voice cheers behind me.
A smile teases the corners of his mouth, Yu fighting it off for a moment before his sparkling grin is back on his face. "Hey, Hinata," he greets, hand shifting backward so his thumb can rub against my cheek instead of my lips. My shoulders shift down, letting my head fall backward to look at his teammate.
"First, your lady friend is the best," the player starts, focusing on the word 'the'. I can't help but smile at the ginger who's so excited over something as small as snack bags.
"Second, Kenma just texted and said they're fifteen minutes out so Coach Ukai wants us to start our stretches and I quote," Hinata runs his hands through his hair, forcing his pointy ends to shoot backward. "Make sure you tell shorter stack for every receive he misses because of Miss Mamas, I'll be adding an extra five minutes to practice tomorrow," he finishes, his voice humorously lower than his actual tone.
Yu rolls his eyes, a grin stretching further across his face. The ginger's smile widens too, excitement as bright as the sun on his face. "If it makes you feel any better, Noya-San, coach said for every receive Daichi misses because of Michimiya we'll have a dive lap to do after the practice match."
"Wonderful. I guess you'll get to spend the night kissing my dive lap bruises away," Yu laughs, pecking my nose a few times.
"I heard that!" His captain yells, making Yu's chuckles louder.
"I'm in so much trouble," he whispers, adding a bit of pressure to my cheek before he plops a quick kiss on my lips.
     "Damn right!"
     "You know it!"
Yu cackles again, a line of soft giggles spilling from me as well because of my boyfriend getting yelled at by his coach and captain at the same time. "You are beautiful," he coos, plopping another kiss on my lips before he jumps to his feet.
"And you are dead if you don't get in here and start your stretches!" His coach continues to yell, the dye-blonde clinging to the gym doorframe, anger fuming and steam almost shooting out of his ears. Again, Yu rolls his eyes, offering me his hand to help me to my feet. "Oh, hello kiddo. Thank you for the orange slices, I appreciate it," the coach gushes, his anger thrown out the window at the sight of me.
Coach Ukai is hard on his players, but he's quite the gentleman when it comes to the managers and his players' girlfriends. "Any time coach," I answer, breezing past him.
Yu isn't as lucky, his coach snatching his shirt collar and chewing his ear off as he gets dragged inside. Despite the lecture he's receiving, his eyes never tear away from me and his smile never falls, as love-struck with me as ever.
I stroll over to the stage built into the front of the gym, the other girls already piled onto it. I lift myself onto the stage, settling next to Kiyoko, and letting my legs dangle off the side.
"Hello," Kiyoko's soft greeting comes. "Thank you for the snacks."
"Of course," I hum, my eyes catching on the girl next to Yu's team manager. The blonde-bobbed girl is wrapped up in one of the team's sports coats, heating my curiosity. "It seems that you have a shadow."
"This is Yachi. I am training her to take over as manager after I graduate."
"Hi," Blondie peeps out, poking her head out from around Kiyoko before hiding again.
"Hello," I greet back, silence falling over us after the word spills out. The three of us sit in the quiet, quickly up to the four of us when Michimiya joins. We all watch the boys stretch and warm up; Tanaka, Yu, Daichi, and the green-haired first-year all constantly glancing at us.
Once their stretches are done, three of the four peekers make their way over. Tanaka settles by Kiyoko, trying - and failing - to flirt with her. Daichi situated himself by his girlfriend, greeting and thanking her for coming.
Yu wiggles his way between my thighs, pressing his body weight into my torso, his arms loosely around my hips, and his head buried in my neck. "You didn't tell me you had a new manager," I murmur, twirling his blonde streak between my fingers.
He hums, not catching what I said for a second. "Oh, Yachi? Ya, Kiyoko is training her so she can be next year's manager," he answers, sliding his head closer to my neck. Yu repeatedly presses kisses to the same spot, occasionally returning the teasing sucking I did to him outside. If he keeps it up in the same spot, he's going to leave a bruise but I don't say anything to stop him.
Again, the gym is filled with the rattly disagreement of the door being pushed open. Yu's head snaps up from its place, the both of us looking at the swarm of red and black-clothed high schoolers filtering in.
"That's my cue," he teases, pecking my lips before starting to pull away from me.
"Thank you for having us," the other school booms, the boys standing in a line as they bow.
"Thank you for coming," Yu and his team respond, bowing back. "I have to go now," he chirps, squeezing my thigh before waltzing away from me.
I shake my head at the energetic boy, my eyes trailing after him as he bounces around in front of a boy his height with muted blonde hair. "Mamas!" He shouts after a few minutes, turning toward me and waving like crazy.
"Hey, baby," I call, waving back at him. The boy he's talking to says something I can't pick up on, making Yu's smile waver for a moment. By the time he turns back around, his smile is back to being intact and the spark for a wanted victory has been lit.
"Nishinoya looks... more pumped up than usual," Yachi murmurs, leaning forward a bit so Kiyoko and I can both see her.
The older girl nods her head, her dark hair bouncing with the movement. "Noya is a bit temperamental. Yaku is known for causing scuffs. They feed off each other, especially when she's around," Kiyoko's soft answer comes, a head nod toward me paired with her words.
"Why?" The new manager asks, continually glancing at me.
"Yu is a bit territorial so it's not uncommon for him to get worked up when a fellow libero or other player makes a comment or pass at me."
     "That sounds scary."
Both Kiyoko and I giggle at the girl's reaction. "It's not, I promise. It's just some light rivalry trash talk. Yu will be fine and I can almost guarantee whatever Yaku said, he didn't mean it and only said it to get under Yu's skin."
"So... is Noya-San going to be... I don't know, off?"
"Oh dear lord, no," I chuckle, leaning back on my hands as I watch the boy in question hop in place. Even from here, I can almost feel the determination and excitement waving off Yu. "He plays best knowing he has something to prove. Originally it was proving to me he can bring home another win. Now it's proving or disproving whatever Yaku said."
"So... trash-talking is good for Noya-San?"
"And Tanaka, to a degree," Kiyoko butts in, softly nodding her head in agreement. "Healthy rivalry is one of the best motivations." Yachi lets out a hum, thinking over everything Kiyoko and I just told her.
The boys stumble onto the court, Yu situated in the middle of the back row. My boy leans backward, shooting me a smile and a wave before he gets situated again. My beautiful Dionysus of a boyfriend, in his true element of pleasure.

————————————

Yu whimpers as I gently run a cloth over his scrapes. The boy wiggles in my lap, shoving his nose further into my stomach. "Oh, hush," I softly chuckle, slowly moving my focus back to the scrapes littering my libero.
"It hurts," he whines, tightening the arm wrapped around my back, trying to shove himself further against me; it doesn't work very well seeing how there's no more space for him to take from me.
"You're fine," I coo, leaning down to pepper the side of his head with kisses. "If you survived getting the wounds, you'll survive getting them cleaned."
"I know," he huffs, loosening a bit. Yu's head lays flat in my lap again, amber-sparked eyes looking up at me as his arm's dead weight rests against my hip. "Mamas?"
"Baby?"
"You're a goddess among women." My hands stall on Yu's chest, the scrape courtesy of an overzealous dive forgotten under the rag. "What? Yaku got your tongue?" Yu teases, arching up to kiss me.
I meet him halfway and crash my lips against his. After we pull apart, it takes a second for my hands to start working again. This must be how Yu felt when I told him he makes gods jealous. No wonder he was so flustered. "I asked Tsukki who Dionysus's wife is. Her name is Ariadne. She's not a goddess but she is immortal so that's good enough for me. You're the Ariadne to my Dionysus, Mamas."
"You're dumb," I whisper, nibbling on my bottom lip to help hide my smile.
"You're the one that compared me to the gods. You knew it would rub my ego," he answers, a soft chuckle making his chest bounce under my fingertips. "Ariadne to my Dionysus," Yu softly sighs, letting his eyes fall closed.
"Ariadne to your Dionysus," I echo, shaking my head at the spaz ball. My energetic love struck-spaz ball.
