As Sloane walked into the library, she felt a mix of excitement and nerves. It had been two weeks since their last tutoring session, and in that time, she had come to terms with her feelings for Paige. Thinking about Paige had become a part of her daily routine; wether it was in the shower, at cheer practice, before bed, Paige was always on Sloane's mind, everything reminded her of her, filling her with a mix of joy and longing. Yet, she couldn't shake the fear that Paige might not feel the same way.
Paige, too, had been grappling with her own feelings. That familiar ping in her heart hadn't left since she'd reconnected with Sloane. It had taken her a while, but she finally realized that her extra effort in getting ready for their sessions wasn't just about looking presentable; it was about impressing Sloane. However, Paige wasn't sure if Sloane liked girls, so she buried her feelings deep, trying to focus on their friendship and the tutoring.
Because of their doubts, neither girl acted on their feelings, keeping their sessions flirty but cordial. This was the dynamic Sloane found herself in as she approached their usual corner in the library, away from the main bustle of students.
"Alright, let's get started," Sloane said, setting down her bag and trying to focus on the task at hand, but she couldn't help noticing how good Paige looked in the low light.
"Sure," Paige replied, a hint of a smile playing on her lips. "Thanks again for helping me with this. I really appreciate it."
Sloane nodded, her heart fluttering at the sincerity in Paige's voice. "Of course, what do you want to do first?"
As they settled into their study routine, the proximity and shared focus created an undercurrent of tension that neither could ignore. Their knees brushed under the table, sending a jolt of electricity through Sloane. She glanced up to see Paige's reaction and found her biting her lip, trying to focus on what she was reading but clearly affected too.
Paige leaned closer, "This part always confuses me," she said softly, pointing to a section in her textbook.
Sloane took a deep breath, trying to steady her racing heart. "Alright, let's break it down," she said, her voice a bit shakier than she'd intended. As she explained the concept, she could feel Paige's eyes on her, and it made concentrating incredibly difficult.
"You're really good at this," Paige murmured, her tone filled with admiration. "And you're so patient with me."
Sloane blushed, her cheeks warming under Paige's gaze as she also crossed her legs, which didn't go unnoticed by Paige. "You're good at listening so it's not hard," she replied, her voice barely above a whisper. "And I enjoy spending time with you."
Paige's smile widened, her eyes softening. "Me too," she said, her voice dropping to a more intimate tone. "Are you going to the party tomorrow?" Paige asked her.
Sloane quickly replied, shaking her head no, as Paige's face contorted into one of confusion.
"I think you should go, you deserve a reward for being such a good tutor," Paige said, her voice teasing.
Sloane raised an eyebrow, intrigued. "Oh? maybe I will go."
Paige leaned in slightly closer, her eyes twinkling with mischief. "Good," she whispered, "because I was hoping I could see you outside of the library for a change."
Sloane's heart raced at the prospect. "I'd like that," she replied, her voice barely more than a breath.
With that, the rest of the session continued with an undercurrent of anticipation and unspoken feelings, both girls savoring the closeness and looking forward to what the next evening would bring if Sloane decided to go to the party.
Walking into her shared dorm, Sloane dropped her bag by the door and stripped from her clothes and jumped on her bed. Soon after Haven came in doing the same.
"Soo how was your little study date today?" Sloane gave her a look but nevertheless answered " My tutoring session was great." Haven gave her a teasing smile, before asking. "by the way those are only on thursdays right because we have a party to go to tomorrow!" "um..we??" "yes Sloaneeee, we have yet to go to a party and it's been like three months since school started."
"mmm okay fine!"
"yes Sloane! were going to have so much fun!" Haven Jumped off her bed and onto Sloane's giving her the biggest hug ever and kissing her cheeks. Sloane just smiled to herself happy to make her roommate happy.
