When Mayfair pulled up below the ship in a yellow taxicab with not just one unconscious demigod, but two, Theo would be lying if she said she hadn't been mere inches away from drawing her bow. She already had bad experiences with taxi drivers.

Then she remembered her bow wouldn't have done any more for her defense than if she tried to arm herself with a pillow.

Before asking questions, though, she and Hazel helped May get the boys to the sickbay, setting them up in beds a good distance apart from each other. All of them ignored Coach Hedge insisting he should've been there and that he's always missing all the violence.

When everyone was settled, Mayfair sat at Jason's side, looking worse for the wear. Theo was beside Percy. Neither of the boys were awake yet. Hazel caught Theo's eye and, with a brief, understanding nod, headed for the door.

"Tell Leo to set course for Atlanta," May called after her.

Theo's brow furrowed. "But I thought we needed to—"

"I'll explain later."

They sat in silence for another moment longer, watching each of their bedridden demigod fellows' chests rising and falling with uneven breaths.

"What attacked him?" demanded Theo, unable to sit on the question a moment longer, inspecting the goose egg forming on Percy's temple, the gash down his arm. She glanced to Mayfair—or maybe it was more of a glare. "Are you ever going to tell us what happened out there?"

"I've been back five minutes," May shot back, barely taking her eyes off Jason. "Let me catch my breath first, Scott. Gods."

"I'm not going to go crazy, if that's what you're worried about," pressured Theo. She took hold of Percy's hand. "I don't care if it was your fault that he got hurt or anything—"

Mayfair lifted her head, eyes wide in disbelief. "Oh, my gods!"

"What?" Theo leaned back in her chair. "Is everything alright—?"

"No," was May's quick fire response. "No, it's not alright, because I just genuinely can't believe how selfish you are!"

"Selfish?" Theo straightened, face scrunching into a scowl. "What in Tartarus are you talking about?"

But Mayfair exhaled a heaving sigh and shook her head, pinching the bridge of her nose. "Don't even worry about it. Whatever. Just—go tell Leo to set course for Atlanta. Please."

The please didn't sound very polite. And Mayfair didn't sound like she was asking.

Some part of Theo wanted to fight back—the immature part—but another part of her knew that Mayfair was just as brand new to this demigod business as Theo had been on her first quest. Granted, this was Mayfair's second quest, but Theo's own second wasn't a walk in the park or anything. She knew it had probably been a long shot to try and pry the story out of May after such a long day, especially when she seemed so shaken up, but not knowing what happened to Percy was killing Theo.
