Yunlan, Xinci, Zhujiu, and the rest of the family refused to leave the riverbank, their eyes scanning the water for any sign of Shen Wei.

They barely spoke, their voices hoarse from crying and screaming.

As the sun began to set, the family's hopes began to lose. They had held on to the belief that Shen Wei would be found alive, but as the darkness gathered, they couldn't shake off the feeling of despair.

No one had the appetite to eat, and food was the last thing on their minds and their bodies weak from exhaustion and grief.

Days turned into weeks, and the family's grief continued. They barely slept, their minds racing with thoughts of Shen Wei's fate.

As the weeks turned into months, the family's hopes began to fade. They still held on to the belief that Shen Wei was alive, but the reality of the situation was beginning to sink in.

Yunlan, once a strong and proud man, was now a shadow of his former self. His eyes had lost their sparkle, and his body had grown weak from grief.

He spent most of his days sitting by the riverbank, staring at the water, his mind lost in thoughts of Shen Wei.

Mr. Shen, too, was struggling to come to terms with the loss of his son.

He had always been a pillar of strength for the family, but now he was crumbling under the weight of grief.

Zhujiu, who had always been the strong and silent type, was now a broken man.

The family's hopes were sinking, but they refused to give up.

They held on to the belief that Shen Wei was alive, and that one day he would return to them.

And so, the family's hearts heavy with grief, their minds racing with thoughts of Shen Wei's fate.

Yunlan's eyes had sunken deep into his sockets, his skin pale and gaunt.

He lay in bed, his body weak and frail, his mind consumed by grief. He had refused to eat or drink for days, unable to bear the thought of living without Shen Wei.

"Yunlan, please, you have to eat something," Xinci begged, holding up a spoonful of soup. "You're weakening yourself."

Yunlan turned his head away, his eyes fixed on the wall. "I don't want to eat. I don't want to live without my Shen Wei."

Zhujiu tried to reason with him. "Brother, we know it's hard, but we have to accept fate. Shen Wei is gone."

Yunlan's eyes flashed with anger. "No! He's not gone! He's still alive, I know it!"

The family tried to comfort him, but Yunlan pushed them away. He was convinced that Shen Wei was still alive, and he couldn't bear the thought of living without him.

As the days passed, Yunlan's condition worsened. He was barely conscious, his body wracked with pain and grief.

The family did everything they could to save him, but Yunlan's heart was broken, and he couldn't be saved if he continue being like this.

In his mind, he was still searching for Shen Wei, still holding on to the hope that his wife and baby would come back to him.

He couldn't accept that fate had taken him away, and he refused to give up, even in the face of death itself.

As the family gathered around Yunlan's bedside, praying for his recovery, Hong entered the room with a surprising request.

"Yunlan, I know this isn't the best time, but I have something important to ask you," Hong said, her voice trembling slightly.

Yunlan's eyes opened weakly, his gaze fixed on Hong with a mix of confusion and disbelief.

"Hong, what are you talking about?" Yunlan's mom asked, her voice laced with annoyance.

"Can't you see that Yunlan is struggling to survive?"

Hong took a deep breath and continued, "I know it may seem inappropriate, but I can't help how I feel. Yunlan, I want to marry you."

The room fell silent, with the family staring at Hong in shock and disbelief.

Yunlan's eyes widened in horror, his mind reeling from the audacity of Hong's request.

"Hong, have you lost your mind?" Zhujiu shout. "Yunlan is grieving the loss of his Shen Wei and baby, and you're asking him to marry you?"

Hong's face reddened, but she persisted, "I know it may seem insensitive, but I truly care for Yunlan, and I believe I can help him through this difficult time."

Yunlan's weak voice cut through the tension, "Hong, leave me alone. I don't want to marry you. I just want Shen Wei back."

The family's gaze fell upon Hong, their eyes filled with disdain and disappointment.

Hong's face fell, and she quietly exited the room, her shameless request rejected.

Yunlan's weak body trembled as he struggled to sit up, his eyes fixed on his father in law with a mix of determination and grief.

With a heavy heart, he reached out and wrapped his arms around Mr. Shen, pulling him into a tight embrace.

He, taken aback by Yunlan's sudden gesture, hesitated for a moment before returning the hug, holding his son-in-law close as he sobbed uncontrollably.

As the two men held each other, the dam of grief that had been building up inside Yunlan finally burst, and he let out a torrent of tears, mourning the loss of his beloved Shen Wei.

Mr. Shen stroked Yunlan's hair, whispering words of comfort and condolence, as the family looked on, their hearts heavy with sorrow.

"I'm so sorry, Yunlan," Mr. Shen whispered. "I'm so sorry I couldn't protect you both"

Yunlan's sobs intensified, his body shaking with grief.

"It's not your fault, papa," he managed to choke out between sobs. "It's just...I miss him so much."

The two men held each other for what felt like an eternity, their tears mingling as they shared their grief.

Slowly, Yunlan's sobs subsided, replaced by a sense of exhaustion and numbness.

As they pulled back, his uncle cupped Yunlan's face in his hands, his eyes filled with compassion.

"I want you to stay strong Yunlan. Stay strong for Shen Wei my child. Wherever he is, he won't like seeing you like this."

The family cried, Wang hugs her husband and also holds Cheng in her arms.
