Mr. Shen's words of encouragement and support slowly began to penetrate Yunlan's grief-stricken heart.
With a newfound sense of determination, Yunlan allowed his father in law to guide him to the dining table, where a warm meal was waiting.
At first, Yunlan was not feeling any apeitite, but Mr. Shen's encouragement eventually won out.
He took a small bite, and then another, the food tasting bland but nourishing.
He smiled, his eyes shining with tears. "That's it, Yunlan. Eat, my son. You need your strength."
As Yunlan continued to eat, Mr. Shen shared stories of Shen Wei's childhood, of his laughter and antics, of his bright smile and curious nature.
The memories were bittersweet, but they helped Yunlan feel more connected to his Wei, even in death.
With each bite, Yunlan felt a small spark of life returning to his body, a sense of purpose that he hadn't felt in weeks.
He knew that he still had a long way to go, but with Mr. Shen by his side, he felt that he could face the darkness ahead.
As they finished the meal, he placed a gentle hand on Yunlan's shoulder. "You're going to get through this, Yunlan. We'll get through it together."
As Hong approached Yunlan with another marriage proposal her mother intervened, her face red with anger.
"Hong, what is wrong with you?" Her mother
"Can't you see that Yunlan is still grieving? Have you no compassion?" Hong
"I'm just trying to help him move on, Mother. He needs a new start, and I'm willing to be that for him." HongHer mother's expression turned from anger to disgust.
"You're not even giving him space to breathe, Hong. Leave him alone!"
For once, Hong seemed to realize that her actions were not acceptable, and she slunk away, defeated.
Yunlan, who had been watching the exchange, felt a mix of gratitude and embarrassment.
"Thank you, aunty" he said, his voice weak but sincere. "I appreciate your understanding."
"You don't have to thank me, Yunlan. I just want to see you happy again, and Hong's antics are not the way to achieve that."
Yunlan's voice was shaking as he spoke to the doctors on the phone.
"Please, you have to help me. My cousin, Hong, she's gone crazy. She's trying to harm us, trying to kill us. I'm afraid for my family's safety."
The doctor's voice on the other end was calm and reassuring.
"Yunlan, we're on our way. We'll take care of Hong and make sure your family is safe. Just stay where you are and try to stay calm."
Yunlan nodded, even though the doctor couldn't see him. "Okay, thank you. Please hurry."
He hung up the phone and turned to his family. "The doctors are coming. They'll take care of Hong."
Xinci's face was grim. "We need to get her help, Yunlan. She's clearly unstable."
Zhujiu nodded in agreement. "We can't let her harm anyone else." he feels sorry for his sister
As they waited for the doctors to arrive, the family tried to stay calm, but the tension in the air was too much.
They knew that Hong was capable of anything, and they feared for their safety.
Finally, the doorbell rang, and the doctors arrived. They quickly took Hong into custody
As they watched Hong being taken away, the family breaks down. especially her mother .
They knew it wouldn't be easy, but they were determined to support each other.
Hong's eyes welled up with tears as she begged to hold her one-year-old son, her voice cracking with desperation.
"Just one hug, please... I need to hold him..."
Wang, who was holding the baby, hesitated for a moment before slowly backing away, the baby clinging to her neck.
The little one's eyes were wide with fear, and he buried his face in Wang's shoulder, refusing to let go.
Hong's face contorted in anguish as she realized her son was rejecting her.
She stretched out her arms, pleading, "Baby, please... Mommy needs a hug..."
But the child only clung tighter to Wang, his tiny hands grasping her clothes.
Wang tried to comfort him, whispering softly, "It's okay, baby. You're safe."
The scene was heart-wrenching, with Hong's despairing cries filling the air as she realized her son was afraid of her.
The doctors and family members watched with heavy hearts, feeling a mix of sadness and relief as they knew the child was safe from Hong's unstable behavior.
As the doctors led Hong away, she continued to sob, her arms outstretched, her eyes fixed on her son, who was still clinging to Wang.
Wei's father, stood tall, his eyes red from holding back tears, and placed a firm hand on Yunlan's shoulder.
"Yunlan, my son, we have to stay strong. For Wei, for our family, and for ourselves. We can't let grief consume us."
Yunlan nodded, trying to hold back his own tears, as he continued,
"We have to keep moving forward, no matter how hard it is. We owe it to Wei to live our lives to the fullest and make him proud."
Yunlan took a deep breath and squared his shoulders, determination etched on his face.
"You're right, papa. I won't let grief defeat me. I'll keep moving forward, for Wei and for our family."
He hugged Yunlan tightly. "That's my son"
The family's dynamics had shifted irrevocably after Wei's passing.
The once-vibrant home was now filled with an eerie silence. Every member of the family seemed broken, their eyes haunted by the memory of their beloved Shen Wei.
Yunlan's usual warmth and smile were replaced with gloom, his eyes sunken from sleepless nights and grief.
Xinci's strong demeanor had given way to a quiet despair, his eyes red from holding back tears.
Zhujiu's playful humor was gone, replaced by a somber seriousness.
Wang's bright smile had faded, her eyes now filled with a deep sadness.
Yunlan's mother was broken more than others. she lost her son Lin and now Shen Wei
The family missed Shen Wei's infectious laughter, his mischievous grin, and his constant energy.
They missed pampering him, spoiling him, and watching him grow. They missed the little things, like his silly antics and his bright smile.
The house, once filled with the sounds of Shen Wei's laughter and play, was now empty and quiet.
His room, once a hub of activity, was now a shrine to his memory, his belongings frozen in time.
The family's grief was too much, their pain a constant reminder of what they had lost.
They struggled to come to terms with the new reality, their lives forever changed by the absence of their beloved Shen Wei.
