Ryder and the pups drove their way to the town hall. As soon as they parked their vehicles in front, they saw Mr. Bennett standing not far from them. They tried to run inside the town hall as fast as they could without being noticed. Marshall, who was right behind all of the pups, trips on the pavement and tumbles on them, sending all of the pups flying right toward the town hall. Ryder slams the door behind them once everyone is inside.
Mr. Bennett heard some kind of commotion and turned around to the sound, only to find nothing.
"Hmm... strange."
Ryder and the pups were still catching their breath when they got in. Mayor Goodway saw them come in and greeted them.
"Ryder! Pups! So nice to see you today..."
"Hi Mayor Goodway..." the pups greeted back.
"Hello, Mayor Goodway. Can we ask you a favor?" Ryder asked.
"Sure, of course. What is it?" Mayor Goodway nodded.
"Do you happen to have kept some documents about my mom?" Ryder said. Mayor Goodway paused for a moment before answering.
"Oh, your mom? Yes, I do... Let me go find them real quick."
Mayor Goodway left them alone as she tried to look for those documents.
"You really think we're doing it right this time?" Chase muttered.
"I think so, I don't see another option," Rocky answered.
"Plus, we're not in Dogfynn City anymore," Marshall added.
"He's right," Skye nodded.
Mayor Goodway came back, holding a folder in her right hand.
"I found it! Here you go, Ryder... Your mom told me to keep it safe. Take good care of it," Mayor Goodway replied.
"Thanks, Mayor Goodway!" Ryder thanked her.
But before they could even head out the door, Zuma, who was looking out the window, interrupted.
"Dudes? Did you know there's some unfamiliar car with unfamiliar people parked right in front of the town hall?" Zuma asked.
This caught everyone's attention, especially Chase's. Chase ran up to the window to look and gasped at what he saw.
"Is that who I think it is?"
Two men in black and shades darted into the town hall, scaring everyone. Mayor Goodway still tried to be friendly.
"Uhm, may I help you... sir?"
"I know this is so sudden, but kid, you need to hand over that folder now," one of them said.
The pups all gazed at each other with eyes widened.
"Huh?"
"Uhm, why?" Ryder asked, "Who are you, anyway?"
"It's not important now... Hand over those files and we won't need to hurt any of you," the other man replied.
"Now hold on a second, those are important files and we don't just randomly give them to people like you," Mayor Goodway said, firmly.
One of the men began to pull up a gun from his pocket. Mayor Goodway held back immediately. Ryder, still holding onto the folder, knew exactly what to do.
"Chase, catch!" he yelled right away, throwing the folder to Chase like a frisbee.
Chase caught it right on time with his mouth and dashed out the door. The rest of the pups followed him outside. Ryder caught up to them from behind. The two men blocked his way before Chase could hop into his cruiser.
