To be quicker. We decided to Mattheo would shadow travel us.

"Umm," asked Jade "weren't we supposed to end up in front of the empire state building not on a beach."

"Oops sorry." he said.

We stood on the sandy shore, the waves crashing behind him, their salty spray mingling in the air.

Across from us stood Athena, the goddess of wisdom and warfare, her grey eyes calculating and sharp. Wait a min. When the hell did she get here. She wore her battle armor, its gleaming surface reflecting the orange hues of the sun. In her hand was a spear, its tip pointed directly at me, shimmering with divine energy.

Annabeth bowed, "Mother-"

"Daughter," Athena said, her voice calm yet commanding. "Stand back."

I looked at the goddess. "Why are you here?"

"Be more respectful boy!"

"I mean so far you haven't really showed me you deserve my respect."

Annabeth was about to speak but her mother shut her up again.

"The bag. My idiotic brother just had to go ruin it."

I'm like half confused right now.

I sighed, "Respectfully, the fuck you on about?"

"The problem at hand, son of Poseidon. The bag is a sheath for the bolt. They always return back to each other. Like your sword. However,I can't have you taking that bolt to Olympus. You just might get those hardheaded imbeciles to listen to you. So I have to kill you. Everything personal.

The fuck is that analogy?

She snapped her fingers. The clouds rolled over and out came a large owl. (I'm actually trying so hard not to laugh right now. Like seriously woman? An owl?!) The bird clawed the sand, glaring at me with beady eyes as it waited for the command to kill.

I stepped into the surf. "Fight me yourself, Athena."

"Scared? I mean Ares did say it himself, you're not a genius all you've got is an owl."

"In your adolescent dreams. No direct involvement. Sorry, kid. You're not at my level."

Harry said, "Percy, run!"

The giant owl charged.

As the owl rushed me, I uncapped my pen and sidestepped. Riptide appeared in my hands. I slashed upward. Its severed fell at my feet, while the disoriented animal charged into the sea.

I shouted, "Wave!"

Immediately, a wave surged up from nowhere and engulfed the owl, wrapping around it like a blanket. The bird squealed once in terror. Then it was gone, swallowed by the sea.

I turned back to Athena. "Are you going to fight me now?" I asked. "Or are you going to hide behind another pet?"

Athena's face was purple with rage. "Watch it, Poseidon, spawn. I could turn you into - "
"A cockroach," I said. "Or a tapeworm. Or a spider? Actually no not that. But yeah, I'm sure. That'd save you from getting your godly ass whooped , wouldn't it?"

Her grey eyes glared at me. "Boy, you are really asking to be smashed into a grease spot."

"If I lose, turn me into anything you want. Take the bolt. If I win, the bolt is mine and you have to fuck off."

Athena sneered.

She twirled her spear. "How would you like to get pulverised: classic or modern?"

I showed her my sword.
