Xander's POV
"So.... You gonna tell me what's up?" Lorenzo broke the awkward silence as he drove me to my place after having just dropped off Lucas. "Why were you out of town without your car, and hanging out with that weirdo of all people?"
I found it kind of annoying how people could use that word to define someone that they knew nothing about. What exactly is a weirdo? I mean, sure, everyone has their perks and faults, but it doesn't make them a weirdo. If that's the case, I guess the entire human race is considered a bunch of weirdos.
"He caught me stealing a car." I decided to just give it to him straight rather than try to lie.
"What?" He expressed his confusion.
"Lucas caught me stealing a car. I uh, I have been stealing cars... for some guy named Malcolm." I honestly didn't know how else to explain it. I mean, it's quite simple; I steal cars. It's not exactly the kind of job that one aspires to have, but it paid all the same.
"Why?" He wondered, his tone of voice laced with shock.
"Because I needed the money." I said.
The rest of the drive was silent, right up until the point when Lorenzo parked the car in the driveway of my house.
I was about to get out of the car, but decided to stay put so I could ask Lorenzo a question. "Did you know?" I asked him. I was referring to the whole Tori and Dane thing.
He didn't seemed surprised or confused about my question. "No." He answered. "I didn't."
I felt relieved to know that. I had already been betrayed by one friend, I didn't know what I would do if I was betrayed by both of them. I supposed I would be mad.
"Do you think you and Dane will ever be good again?" He wondered.
Just hearing his name out loud caused my blood to boil. A scowl worked its way on my face as I clenched my fists. "I'm done with him."
I move to get out of the car, turning back to him when my feet are connected with the pavement of the driveway. "Thanks for picking us up."
"No problem, dude." He nodded.
"Good night, man."
"Good night."
I close the car door and start towards the front porch. It was late, so I gathered that my mom probably assumed that I was staying at a friend's place or something since the front door was locked. Luckily, I had a spare key that accompanied my car keys, which rarely ever left my person.
When I get inside and flip the light on, I found the living area to be in a state of mess. It wasn't so messy that it resembled a dump, but it looked as though it hadn't been cleaned in a few days, and I supposed that it hadn't. I've been neglecting my chores lately, what with everything that has been going on.
I figured I wouldn't have to wake up early for school tomorrow, or for the next few weeks or so, so I decided to tidy up the place, trying my best to remain quiet as not to wake my mom.
After tidying up the place and grabbing a nice cold can of soda out of the fridge, I head to my room and sit in bed, my phone in hand. I still hadn't changed my lock screen.
It was a picture of Tori and I.
In it, half of my face is obscured by hers as I planted a kiss on her cheek with my eyes closed.
She looks so cute.
I still can't believe she cheated on me. I should hate her. I'm angry, sure, but I didn't hate her. Why don't I hate her?
