It was a typical evening in the dorm, with the guys lounging around. Heeseung was scrolling through Ni-Ki’s phone contacts out of sheer boredom when he noticed a particular name.
“Bro, why do you have all of your girlfriend’s friends’ numbers?” Heeseung asked, raising an eyebrow at Ni-Ki.
Ni-Ki shrugged. “Because they’re her besties, and we all hang out sometimes. Why?”
Heeseung’s lips curled into a mischievous grin. “Just curious.” His eyes lingered on one contact in particular. “Oh, Violet. She’s the one who’s always roasting us, right?”
“Yeah, she’s got quite the tongue. Why? What are you planning?” Ni-Ki asked, suddenly wary.
Heeseung glanced at Jake, who was busy gaming in his room. “Oh, nothing. Just... experimenting. Watch this.”
Before Ni-Ki could stop him, Heeseung copied Violet’s number and put it into Jake’s phone, which was charging in the living room. With a quick press, he dialed the number from Jake’s phone and then abandoned it on the table.
In another part of town, Violet was enjoying a quiet evening when her phone rang. She frowned, not recognizing the number.
Nonetheless, she answered, her annoyance evident.
“Who the hell is this, and why are you calling me at this hour?”
Meanwhile, Jake, who had just finished his gaming session, heard his phone ringing in the living room. He picked it up, confused.
“Uh, hello?”
“Who do you think you are, calling me out of the blue? Do you even know what time it is?” Violet’s voice was furious.
Jake, completely clueless, stammered, “I’m sorry, but who is this?”
“Oh, great. You don’t even know who you’re calling. Typical. This is Violet, genius. And you better have a good reason for interrupting my peace.”
“Violet? I don’t remember calling you. Wait, who are you?”
Violet’s patience was wearing thin. “Oh, sure. Blame it on the phone. What do you want?”
“I honestly have no idea what’s going on. I was just gaming and—”
“Gaming? Of course. Figures. Listen, don’t call me again unless you have something important to say. Got it?”
“But I—” Jake tried to explain, but Violet had already hung up.
Jake stood there, holding his phone, utterly baffled. Heeseung and Ni-Ki, hiding around the corner, were trying to suppress their laughter.
“What just happened?” Jake muttered to himself.
“Mission accomplished,” Heeseung whispered to Ni-Ki, a smug grin on his face.
Ni-Ki shook his head, whispering back, “Dude, you’re so dead if she finds out it was you.”
Heeseung smirked. “Worth it.”
Still puzzled, Jake decided to call back to clear things up. He didn’t want this stranger, Violet, to think he was some random creep.
Jake hesitantly dialed the number again. “Hey, Violet? It’s Jake. I think there was some mix-up—”
“Seriously? Who the hell are you, and why do you keep calling me?” Violet’s voice was even angrier than before.
“I’m Jake, and I didn’t mean to call you. I think someone messed with my phone.”
There was a pause on the other end before Violet sighed. “Fine. I’ll let it slide this time. But don’t let this happen again.”
“Thank you. And I’m really sorry for the mix-up.”
“Whatever. Just don’t make it a habit.” Violet hung up, leaving Jake with a sense of relief but also lingering confusion.
Jake looked at Heeseung and Ni-Ki, who were now trying to appear innocent.
“Alright, which one of you geniuses messed with my phone?” Jake asked, narrowing his eyes.
Heeseung, unable to hide his grin, replied, “Who, us? Why would we do that?”
Ni-Ki, struggling to keep a straight face, added, “Yeah, Jake. You must have dialed her by accident.”
Jake wasn’t buying it. “Heeseung, you’re always the one messing with our phones. Remember how Ni-Ki got his girlfriend? That was because of one of your stunts. So I know exactly what you’re trying to do.”
Heeseung’s grin widened. “Hey, it worked out for Ni-Ki, didn’t it? Who knows, maybe Violet’s your soulmate.”
Jake rolled his eyes. “Yeah, well, next time, leave me out of your experiments.”
“Oh, come on. It was just a little prank. No harm done, right?” Heeseung said, smirking.
“You guys are the worst. But seriously, don’t do that again. Violet sounded really pissed,” Jake sighed, shaking his head.
“You’re not alone, buddy. You’re not alone,” Ni-Ki laughed.
Heeseung chuckled, “Oh, come on. It’s not like she’ll ever know it was us.”
“Yeah, well, you better hope she doesn’t find out. I don’t need any more angry calls from strangers,” Jake grumbled.
As Heeseung and Ni-Ki walked away, still chuckling, Jake pondered how he got caught in their prank. He made a mental note to be more cautious with his phone in the future, knowing full well that living with these pranksters meant he had to stay on his toes.
