James Buchanan Barnes was the love of your life. The day you lost Bucky you lost a part of yourself. It made it all the worst to lose Steve shortly after. You and Peggy were left alone and devastated. Soon she founded shield and you were there by her side through it all. That is until you were captured by Hydra. After being experimented on, they decided to put you in cryo.
After raiding a hydra base years later, Peggy finds you frozen in a cryogenic chamber. Not knowing what to do, they decided to leave you frozen until they can find a way to defrost you with out killing you. They put you in storage and that's where you stayed until Steve was found.
After they successful defrosted him, There was talk about shield trying with you. Months later they were ready to defrost you. Nick promise Peggy that he would do what he could for you.

When you finally woke up, you were in a hospital bed covered in wires. You were hooked up to all kinds of monitors. Your brain waves were even being monitored. Last time you were awake you were in Hydra's custody, so that's what you thought was the case. You knew you had to get out of this room and out of the building. You carelessly ripped all the wires off of you and headed towards the door. Before you could get close, the door swings open. Before you stood a ghost. It was Steve Rogers, alive and well.
"Steve? Is it really you" you said, your voice was shaky and weak. He smiled and just hugged you. You were so confused and you had so many questions."Wheres Peggy. I have to see her?" You asked. He looked down and back at you. "I'll take you to see her. Y/N, you have to understand something before we go. You have been frozen for over 65 years. The world is a different place now." He said with a serious tone. You couldn't believe what he just told you. You didn't even know how to react. "This century is gonna take some getting used to, I know, I'm still adjusting to it myself." Said Steve.
On the way to see Peggy, Steve filled you in on everything. What happened with him and how he reacted when he first woke up as a man out of time.

Walking into Peggy's room broke your heart. To see her so old and fragile brought you to tears. You sat in the chair next to her bed. You reached for her hand and held it. She looked at you and her eyes lit up. "You're out of cryo?" She asked. You smiled wiping the tears from your eyes. "Yeah Peggy, finally." You said with a giggle. She giggled to. "Sorry, I couldn't save you from Hydra that day" she began. You cut her off, reassuring her that she did all that she could and how grateful you were for that. Steve joined in the conversation and so the three of you were laughing and reminiscing about the good old times. Soon a nurse came in and said Peggy needed her rest. You and Steve left but not before saying your goodbyes to Peggy. On the ride home you couldnt help but think of Bucky. Its been so long and you still felt incomplete without him. Steve asked if you'd like to stay with him while you adjusted to your new life. You said yeah. Other than Peggy, Steve is the only other person you knew and trusted.
That first night you didn't sleep. Neither did Steve, you guys stood up talking about Peggy and Bucky and what could have been. You told him how in this very moment your heart and soul were aching for him. "I'm starting to wish I was never unfrozen, at least when I was frozen i felt nothing. That beats feeling this way" you said. You were getting to sad so you had to change the subject.
"So, I was thinking about getting back in the field. I was a great agent. One of the first actually." You said. Steve smiled.
"That doesn't sound like a bad idea. It'd be good to have a friendly face around."
"Yeah, and it will keep my mind busy. You know how much I need a distraction right now" you said.
The both of you stood up all night talking about the good time.
"Do you remember that first apartment you and Bucky got together?" Asked Steve with a chuckle
"Oh geez, how could I forget. Weren't there for a month before you guys burned the place to the ground" you replied.
"To be fair, it was an accident. And it was really all Bucky's fault." He said laughing. You couldn't help but laugh and recall the day you came to your burnt down home to find little Steve and Bucky with a guilty smile and covered in soot. You missed him so much. Steve missed him as much as you did. You didn't know how adjusting to this life was going to be like but you were glad you had a great friend like Steve to guide you through this confusing time...
