A caring smile appeared on my face as I suddenly spotted that a light was coming out of one of the windows of 'III's Coffee and Bombs'. It was already pitch black out, apart from a few dim streetlights and light beaming out of several windows of the SMG4 Castle, so the café was shut. Meaning that only 3 and Eggdog could be the ones inside.

Eventually deciding to go in, I slowly opened the door to find SMG3 sitting at one of the tables with his head in his hands. Alone.

"Huh?" was the only thing that escaped from his bearded mouth as he heard the door slowly creak open, quickly removing his gloved hands but refusing to look at who the visitor was.

Already fearing the worst, I mustered up the courage to ask, "SMG3? Are you-"

"Okay?! Do I look okay to you?!" he snapped back deeply, cutting me off abruptly before I could even finish.

In response, I stopped dead in my tracks. I hadn't seen him this bad in years. Not since he enslaved the anti-crew, Mario, and me to do his bidding. Not since he'd gone completely power-crazy over the YouTube Remote. Not since he'd almost killed SMG4.

Slowly turning his head to look at me, I quickly realised that his face was completely tear-stained. He'd been crying.

But, instead of snapping at me like I had expected, as soon as he properly realised that it was me, his dark red eyes almost instantly melted and a guilty look spread across his face.

"S-Sorry," he stuttered out with a sigh. "I've just been thinking about what the others have been saying about me ever since I joined the crew... especially SMG4."

"N-No, it's alright." I reassured as a kind, caring look reappeared on my face once more.

Gaining my confidence again, I walked up to him and, once I was by his side, asked, "Can I sit here?"

"Sure, go ahead," he replied half-heartedly with a subtle nod.

"So, what have people been saying?" I asked gently as I pulled back a chair and sat on it. I needed to make sure that he was comfortable; otherwise, he would firmly refuse to tell me anything.

A small smile appeared on my face as I spotted Eggdog snuggling up to his dad's leg underneath the table, obviously able to sense that something was wrong and upsetting him.

"Well, at Christmas, SMG4 referred to me as nothing more than 'the guy who tried to kill [them]'," he explained, trying to hide his tears as much as he could, but I could still tell that they were there.

After all, his ex-rival, someone who he thought that he could rely on, trust, and think of as one of his best friends, regardless of their history, had brought up the one thing that he didn't want to be known for. The one thing that he regretted more than anything else. His past.

He'd even referred to him in a way that he didn't deserve. As if nothing had changed. As if all the growth that he'd gone through and all the effort that he'd put into changing over the years didn't matter.

That wasn't fair to 3 at all, yet the meme man had still gotten away with it. All because he hadn't spoken up for himself.

But I'd been able to tell that something was wrong on that day. And now I understood more than ever.

Because of 4's actions, 3 now felt like everything he'd done was worthless. That, regardless of what he did now, regardless of how much he changed, he'd always be known as an evil villain. As the man who almost killed the SMG4 Crew almost four years ago now. An antagonist.

But he was more than that. He always had been. And not just because he was the overlord of the Internet Graveyard. Nor just because he was the Super Meme Guardian of the dead memes.

"You've changed a lot over the last few years, 3. And acceptance takes time." I explained, looking kindly at the ex-villain. "But I hope you still feel like you belong here, with us, because... you do."

"I do?" he asked as a look of confusion entered his previously angered and sad eyes, wanting to believe every word but being understandably hesitant to do so.

"Of course, and me and the others will do everything we can to help and make things easier for you along the way. You aren't on your own anymore." I promised with a slightly blushing smile.

"But what about SMG4? He-" he blurted out, and I could instantly tell that the half smile that he had been wearing had fallen off of his face.

"He cares about you too; I know he does. Otherwise, he would never have helped you get your notebook back or saved you during Puzzlevision." I continued.

I couldn't help but feel kind of proud of how close the two of them had gotten. Sure, they'd both said and done stuff to each other that they regretted, but they were friends now. Proper friends.

So much so that if someone met them now, they might not even be able to figure out that they used to be rivals and at each other's throats all of the time.

Raising my E/C eyes a little to gaze into his red ones, I realised how much I wanted to give him a hug right now, but I didn't want to risk making him uncomfortable.

Quickly realising that I was looking at him, he gave me a trusting smile, and I couldn't help but smile back, feeling a warm feeling fill me.

In the next minute, to my shock, I felt him grab a hold of me and bring me into a tight hug.

"Thank you," he whispered barely audibly into my ear as a firm blush appeared on my face.
