Maddy's Pov:
"What should I wear?" I ask Luke, my eyes darting between two outfit options. None of my girlfriends are replying, so these boys are my next best bet. One choice is black leggings with a white sweater, and the other is black flares with a black sweater. They're pretty similar, which is exactly why I can't decide. Like I said, I'm so indecisive.
Luke looks up from his phone, his eyes flicking between the two options. "Um, those pants with the white sweater," he points to the flares. I swap the leggings for the flares and hold them up. He nods in approval.
"When are we leaving?" I ask, thinking about the makeup and curls I still need to do.
"Thirty minutes. Is that enough time?"
"Plenty!" I thank him and dash off to my room.
...
Exactly twenty-eight minutes later, my makeup and hair are done. The only thing left is to get dressed, which I'm just about to do when someone knocks on my door.
"Yeah?" I call out. There's no reply, but the knob slowly turns, revealing Quinn. He doesn't speak, but his eyes travel down my body. Although I'm wearing a cami and shorts, I feel naked under his gaze. I shift nervously, waiting for him to say something. He blinks, as if pulling himself out of his thoughts.
"Uh, just came to check if you're ready. You're not coming dressed like that, right?" I stare at him in amusement, cocking my head to the side.
"I am, actually, I just need socks. Give me a second." I giggle to myself, turning to the drawer with my socks and underwear.
"Madeline," he says, his voice filled with warning.
"Hm?"
"Come here," he orders. It's as if my body has a mind of its own, slowly turning around to face him. He's closer than before but there's still distance between us. It's weird; neither of us have addressed yesterday, just kind of moved on from it. Or at least, we're acting like we have, even though I'm trying not to jump on him and smash my lips against his.
"I was kidding, Quinny. Now leave so I can actually get dressed, and let your brothers know that you're the reason I'm coming down late. Now, scurry." I keep a small smile on my face, watching him relax at my words. He's so slow, why would I ever wear this outfit out of the house?
I walk past him to the bed, picking up my outfit that I have laid out. He stands still, not moving.
"Quinn, I really do need to change. Are you just going to-"
"-I'm sorry," he blurts out. He turns around slowly, coming closer to me. "I abandoned you yesterday. I should've been by your side, showing you around. You're my guest and I just left you. I really am sorry." I stare at him in shock, well, I was not expecting that. My face softens, and I drop the clothes back on the bed, reaching my hands to cup his face.
