"Wow, there's a whole lot of tension on this table" Amara speaks as she joins us "lovers tiff?" she questions "oh we're not..." I say as I point to Silas "if you say so" she teases as she leaves. I look down at my plate of food, green salad leaves and fresh veg "no meat?" I question as I shove a fork full of greenery into my mouth "they live off the land" Silas responds not looking at me "I have a bed full of furs to keep me warm" I point out "those animals die of natural causes" he replies, still not looking at me. "Ah newbies" a man with long white hair in braids sits beside us, his hair is intertwined with pretty flowers and greenery. Arwen. Wait, he's the guy from Jaspers... Oh, he's actually kind of cute. Good for you Jasper. "So what brings you guys here?" Arwen asks "car accident" Silas responds vaguely. "Oh, from where I stood it looked like a big guy threw your car, not technically an accident. Then some big shadow dude turned up and..." Arwen talks but I cut him off "Asmodeus" I mumble "Asmodeus saved us" I look over at Silas who grows frustrated at the thought. "Asmodeus" Arwen says in disbelief "as in Asmodeus Asmodeus" he pauses "oh it all make sense the oldest vampire, the virgin witch and the virgin wolf" he says, wait but I just caught... So Jasper isn't a virgin is he? "You're attempting the sacrifice" Arwen continues and Silas slams his fist on the table in an attempt to shut him up "sacrifice?" with my eyes wide I look at Silas "well yeah, it's not technically a sacrifice but everyone who's tried it hasn't survived, to much blood is required" Arwen says looking from me to Silas as if I should have known. I should have known! I stand up abruptly and walk away despite Silas calling my name. He didn't tell me people have to die. Who has to die? Him, me, Jasper? Oh my god Lucian knows that's why he sent Jasper it's not punishment it's a death sentence. A death sentence for being gay. I can't do this. I continue walking to an empty field and just sit. "Need some company?" Asmodeus appears beside me "why can't you just leave?" I ask as I look over to him "it's not that simple and even if I could I wouldn't leave you" he smiles "people are going to die" I say but he just nods "and if you stay then the balance of the kingdoms gets..." I sigh "you could always pretend I left and I could stay,be your dirty little secret, I know you'll want me sooner or later" he smirks as he nudges me. "Why does everything have to be so complicated, I just wanted to blend in" I throw myself back on the grass and look up at the grey clouds. "I can make you feel better, take your mind off things" Asmodeus smiles that devilish smile as he lays beside me, holding his head up on his elbow. "You are the reason things are so complicated" I laugh because I feel like crying and if I don't laugh I know I'll cry. "Bee" I hear Daeva approaching and I sit up turning to her as she sits the other side of me "hello Daeva" Asmodeus smiles "go away Asmodeus" she says coldly and he disappears. "You know you shouldn't let him in" she lectures "he saved us" I point out "Silas told me you came this way what is going on with you two?" she asks and I don't know how to respond because I don't know. "He actually cares for..." I cut her off "nope" putting my hand over her mouth "Asmodeus" I say warning her that he can hear. I don't want to talk about Silas or think about him. Asmodeus will cause him harm. She nods, letting me know that she understands. "Did you know about the sacrifice?" I ask and she nods "I did but I didn't want to tell you because you would panic and not go through with it and I..." she panics speaking so fast she almost stumbles over her words "it's okay" I respond "but there has to be another way" I sigh bringing my knees to my chest. "Do you still have the book?" I am so glad that she nods until she speaks "I've read every single page multiple times" her voice sympathetic "how bad would it be if I just let Asmodeus stay, it's only me he tortures and he's actually calmed down" I really don't want people to die because of me and my mistakes "that's not really an option, it will destroy us, all of us, trust me on this Bee, he can't stay" as she finished her sentence we hear people screaming back at the dining area and smoke floods the sky, I look at Daeva and she looks at me as we jump up running towards the noise as people run away. We push through the crowd and see Silas with Jasper, surrounded by men and one woman, who is a raging ball of fire, literally. Mom, it can't be, surely. "Mom?" I call out and she turns to me with a big smile on her face as her fire disappears "darling" she beams "what are you doing here?" I ask as I walk towards her "I'm taking you back to the school sweetie" she says still smiling "no" I protest "I'm not going back mom" she steps towards me and her face changes, she seems angry at my defiance "you can not be off the school grounds, expecially not with traitors" she says angrily as she points at Silas and Jasper "traitors must die my child and I will show you how" she whispers in my ear as she circles me "NO!" I scream as I force my way through the men and join Silas who is still stood with Jasper in silence. Daeva also pushes through the crowd and joins us "oh don't be ridiculous darling" she says as she grows red "you know I will burn this little kingdom to the ground" she closes her fist causing a ball of fire and launches it towards the food counter causing barrels of water to burst. "I will come with you but Daeva, Silas and Jasper must be let go" I bargain and she laughs launching another ball of fire into the woods causing people to scream "everybody move" she directs the men that circle us to move and they do. "Silas be a sweetheart and step out here" she says, her hands still holding fire that she will launch if we do not comply "don't" I say grabbing his arm "would you look at this, my daughter cares for the great Silas, I remember those days now if you would kindly stand right there" she points and he does, expressing no fear, he just stands there. "It was nice knowing you Silas" she says as her whole body engulfs in flames, she builds bigger and bigger bundling up the flames and molding them into a ball, this can't happen. I can't let this happen. "NO!" I scream throwing myself in front of him, I don't know how but every hair on my body stands up and every feeling I've ever felt emerges to the surface, as I look around the water from the barrels and from the earth has built a wall around us, protecting us. I scream and use all the strength inside me to push the water out extinguishing the flames my mother created causes her and her men to disappear in a panic. She wasn't expecting me to fight back, I wasn't expecting to fight back. I can fight back. I have powers!
