Mav instinctively positioned herself in front of Aya, shielding her with her own body. Her eyes narrowed in fury.

"Tangina ka talaga, Cream," Mav spat, her voice filled with venom.

Cream smirked, her finger lightly tapping the trigger. "Did you really believe those lies?" she asked, her voice taunting. "You're more naive than I thought, Mav."

Aya clung to Mav's shirt. Mav could feel Aya's trembling behind her, and she tightened her grip on the bat, her mind racing for a plan. She had to keep Cream talking, to buy Gab just a little more time.

"Was it fun for you, Cream?" Mav said, forcing a sneer. "Was it fun to mess with us? To play with our lives?"

Cream laughed again, a cruel, hollow sound. "You really think you're some kind of hero, don't you, Mav? You're nothing but a fool."

Mav's grip on the bat tightened, her mind racing. She had to keep Cream distracted. "And you're just a sad, pathetic girl who can't face her own demons," she shot back, her voice laced with defiance.

Cream's eyes flashed with anger, and she raised the gun slightly, aiming directly at Mav's chest. "You're going to regret this, Mav," she hissed, her voice trembling with rage.

In that split second, Mav noticed a subtle movement behind Cream.

Gab was slowly creeping up, a bat clutched tightly in her hands, her eyes locked on Cream. Mav's heart leaped with hope, but she knew she had to keep Cream distracted.

"You think you're so smart, don't you, Cream? You think you can control everyone and everything around you," Mav said, her voice trembling with barely contained anger.

Cream's smirk widened, her eyes gleaming with malice. "I am smart, Mav. Smarter than you'll ever be. You're just a pawn in a game you don't even understand," she said, her voice filled with contempt.

Mav's heart pounded in her chest as she watched Gab slowly move closer. She had to keep Cream talking, had to buy just a few more seconds.

"You're nothing but a coward, Cream. A scared little girl hiding behind a gun," Mav spat.

Cream's eyes flashed with rage, and she took a step closer, the gun shaking slightly in her hand. "You think you're so brave, don't you, Mav? So noble. But you're just as scared as I am. You're just better at hiding it," she hissed.

In that moment, Gab made her move. She lunged forward, swinging the bat with all her strength. The sound of the impact echoed through the deserted street as the bat connected with Cream's head.

Cream's eyes rolled back, and she crumpled to the ground, unconscious.

Mav let out a breath she didn't realize she was holding, her heart pounding in her chest.

"Thank you, Gab," she whispered, her voice choked with emotion.

Gab's face was pale, her hands shaking slightly. "I was so scared, Mav. I didn't know if I'd get here in time," she said, her voice trembling. "Are you and Aya okay?"

Mav nodded, tears filling her eyes. "We're okay. Thanks to you," she said, her voice thick with gratitude. She turned to Aya, who was clinging to her, her face pale and tear-streaked.

"Aya, are you hurt?" Mav asked, her voice filled with concern.

Aya shook her head, her eyes wide with fear. "No, I'm okay. Just... just scared," she whispered, her voice trembling.

Mav pulled her into a tight hug, her heart aching with relief. "You're safe now, Aya. You're safe," she murmured, her voice thick with emotion. She glanced at Cream, who was lying motionless on the ground. "We need to call the police. She can't hurt anyone else."

Just then, the wail of sirens filled the air as the police arrived, their lights casting an eerie glow over the scene. Officers swarmed the area, securing Cream and taking statements from the girls.

Mav walked over to where Cream lay, her expression hardening. "I'm not stupid, Cream," she muttered, a flash of determination in her eyes. She reached into her pocket, pulling out her phone. "I knew I couldn't trust you."
