i wish for us

the collision of sunrises and
my late-night tears heats our surroundings
into a rainbow of summer magic.

your hair is bright,
and it takes all my might not to reach out and
filter its golden light through my delicate fingers.

their wish to pull you closer and closer
grows with every step i take,
my feet carrying me away from our fate
that is obviously not meant to be
a fairy-tale-like destiny.

when the moonlight shines at its brightest,
the image of you still crosses my mind.

i wish for the one thing that keeps me
searching the skies for the shooting star
that will turn my wish
into the happy reality of what we could be.

every day,
i still wish for us.
