"Hello" may be translated to bonjour , salut or allo.
Bonjour (Bong Zhoo). Common textbook translation but this word is a combination of bon meaning "good" and jour meaning "day". Bonjour actually means good day but you can use it as an everyday greeting.
Sah lut (Sa loo) - informal, used in casual conversation
Allo(Ah-low) - formal, polite way of greeting
"Good-Bye" may be translated to au revoir or adieu
Au revior (oh rv wah) - Au translates into "to". Revoir translates into "see again", "meet again", or "revise". It can be used in both casual and formal settings.
Adieu (Ah dyou) - is no longer as common as it once was, it can still be used in most contexts as a way of saying farewell. A translates into "to" and Dieu means "God". Perhaps, It would be "Go with God." Don't use this. Just letting you know.
Edit: Due to popular demand I have included the information below
Bon Voyage (Bon Voyage) - Have a nice trip. Don't be confused about using this phrase. I received comments that people are also using this very common word when saying goodbye. However this does not mean goodbye, this clearly states that the person should have a nice trip.
