"...Do you really need to go?" Mei's voice trembled as she looked up at me, her eyes glistening with unshed tears.
"Hehe, I was only living here temporarily, remember?" I replied, trying to keep my tone light. I shrugged my shoulders casually before reaching out to gently pat her head. "We'll see each other again, alright?" I glanced over at Sir Ryoma, seeking approval for my words. To my surprise, he gave me a thumbs up.
Never thought I'd see him do something like this. Usually, he's more stoic and reserved. I hope he isn't thinking what I'm thinking...
No, there's no way it would be that, right?
...Right?
Shaking the thoughts from my head, I turned back to face Mei. "Well then, I hope to see you soon, Mei." I smiled warmly at her.
"...Mm, see you soon..." She forced herself to smile, but the sadness in her eyes was evident.
Feeling a pang of guilt, I leaned down and hugged her lightly. As I looked over at her father for permission, I was once again surprised by his approving smile. Mei hugged me back, her grip strong and reluctant to let go. I chuckled softly, patting her head before gently breaking the hug.
"Thank you for everything, Yuuki," Mei whispered, her voice full of emotion.
"Take care, Mei," I replied, my own voice thick with emotion.
With a final wave, I walked towards the black limousine that would take me to the special school I had intended to go to. The same black limousine I had arrived in. Funny how things come full circle.
This concludes my stay at the Raiden Residence. Honestly, I felt a bit sad leaving such comfortable living conditions. But remembering that my purpose here was to learn and work rather than relax in a mansion, I quickly pushed those thoughts aside. Of course, I would miss Mei and the people here, like Henry-sensei, but I had a feeling our paths would cross again.
The ride to the port was uneventful, giving me time to reflect. Apparently, the school was located in Okinawa, which made sense given Sir Raiden's Japanese heritage. The location was perfect for a secluded environment. I had imagined going somewhere far like England, but staying in Japan was a pleasant surprise. The beauty of Okinawa was something I looked forward to experiencing.
After what felt like hours on a plane (that thankfully didn't explode!), I finally arrived on the island. Another car ride awaited me, this time in a simple, unassuming vehicle. A relief for my heart, as arriving in a black limousine would be detrimental to both my reputation and mental health.
The car dropped me off at what I assumed was the entrance of the school. It looked like one and had the logo of ME Corp plastered as a sign. But as I took a closer look, I realized it wasn't just a school. It was a town—no, it was a city. The buildings had a futuristic feel, and far ahead, I saw a massive twin-towered building with the ME Corp symbol.
