The soft scratching of chalk against the board reverberated through the classroom, blending with the light murmur of students chatting. It wasn't loud enough to cause a disruption, but audible enough to fill the otherwise calm atmosphere. The teacher, focused on writing the next math problem on the board, seemed unbothered by the small talk.

Golden beams of the afternoon sun filtered through the windows, casting long shadows and painting the classroom in a warm, nostalgic glow. It felt like one of those typical school days that blur into the memory—the kind that carries a subtle melancholic beauty. The dull hum of life at school, the routine, the learning... It was a scene that could be found anywhere, yet it felt special in its simplicity.

After a few more strokes of chalk, the teacher turned to face us, her voice steady yet inviting.

"Limit of x-cubed minus 27 over x-squared minus 9 as x approaches 3. Can anyone tell me the answer?"

The chatter died down instantly as every student turned their attention to the board. Brows furrowed, some whispered their attempts at solving the problem while others scrambled for an answer. Then, a single hand shot up confidently from the front row.

"Yes, Mei-san?" the teacher asked, her eyes softening with expectation.

"9 over 2," Mei answered with ease.

"Good job!" The teacher smiled warmly.

A round of applause followed as Mei quietly sat back down, her cheeks slightly pink from the attention.

"As expected of our class goddess!" one boy in the back cheered, his voice filled with admiration.

"She solved it in less than five seconds! She's so amazing!" another girl squealed, clasping her hands together in fangirl mode.

"Alright, alright, calm down, everyone," the teacher interjected, though she couldn't hide a faint smile. "It's just a simple question, so no need to get carried away."

A collective groan of "Haaiii..." echoed through the room as the students settled down. Mei sighed, offering a sheepish smile as she endured the same familiar praise, her expression torn between pride and weariness.

I leaned over, my voice low enough for only her to hear. "Wow, Mei, you're so smart. Truly an inspiration to us all," I teased, my tone half-joking.

She pouted, her eyes narrowing at me playfully. "Umu... not you too."

"Haha, relax, I'm just messing with you." I chuckled and turned my attention back to the lesson as the teacher continued her discussion on the limits of functions.

As I watched the board, my thoughts drifted. It struck me as odd that we were diving into Calculus—specifically limits—when it was typically a topic reserved for 3rd-year students.

Shouldn't we be learning Pre-Calculus right now? But then again, this was the most prestigious school in the country.

Their curriculum was clearly more advanced than the norm, and judging by how the other students were keeping up, they were no ordinary bunch either.
