"You still worrying about it?" asked Andrea after noticing Lori had stopped walking with the group.
"It was a gunshot," stated Lori plainly.
Alice sighed at her words, also extremely anxious about the gunshot they had heard.
"We all heard it." Daryl kept his voice even trying to keep Lori from panicking.
Lori worked herself up, "Why one- why just one gunshot?" Daryl shrugged nonchalantly. "Maybe they took down a walker."
Alice shook her head at him knowing Lori wouldn't fall for his reasoning. "Please don't patronize me. You know Rick wouldn't risk a gunshot to put down one walker, or Shane. They'd do it quietly," stated Lori.
"Maybe it was a misfire?" suggested Alice trying to keep Lori from panicking but the excuse was weak even to her own ears. Lori just shook her head at her words.
"Shouldn't they have caught up with us by now?" asked Carol, anxious for different reasons.
Daryl kept an eye on the area surrounding them. "There's nothing we can do about it, anyway. Can't run around these woods chasing echoes."
"So, what do we do?" asked Lori.
"Same as we've been. Beat the bush for Sophia, work our way back to the highway," explained Daryl.
Alice walked towards Lori putting a comforting hand on her shoulder. "Lori, Daryl is right. We can't go look for them when we don't know where they went. Right now we can't afford more people getting lost. They can take care of themselves and Carl."
"I'm sure they'll hook up with us back at the RV," said Andrea. Lori looked at her before finally nodding and walking forward.
"I'm sorry for what you're going through. I know how you feel." Ivy hung back a bit as Andrea stopped to talk to Carol. Alice noticed Ivy wasn't besides her and stopped walking as well causing everyone else to stop and look back.
"I suppose you do. Thank you." Carol looked at everyone, her voice wobbling as she got emotional, "The thought of her, out here by herself...it's the not knowing that's killing me. I just keep hoping and praying she doesn't wind up like Amy."
Ivy shifted forward carefully as Andrea's expression fell. She wanted to be within arms reach if things got ugly.
Carol realized what she had just said and turned towards Andrea in panic and held her hands. "Oh, God! That's the worst thing I ever said."
Andrea shook her head at her before speaking. "We're all hoping and praying with you, for what it's worth."
Daryl walked towards them. "I'll tell y'all what it's worth- not a damn thing. It's a waste of time, all this hoping and praying. Cause we're gonna locate that little girl. She's gonna be just fine. Am I the only one Zen around here? Good lord."
