Alice and Ivy were in the back of Carol's Cherokee and Alice sat up straight trying not to fall asleep as Glenn drove trying to find the road the stranger had mentioned. Ivy had already nodded off early into the start of their drive.
T-Dog was going in and out of sleep as his body tried to decide to listen to the painkillers or the pain. He groaned every time they hit a bump in the road and Alice was starting to worry as his bandana was soaked through with blood.
"Glenn, can you see any road markers?" asked Alice quietly.
Glenn glanced at her through the rearview mirror shaking his head, "No but we should be seeing it soon it's been a while already."
She nodded at his response before looking out the window trying to find Fairburn Road. It was hard to see anything in the darkening sky.
There was a glint of metal in the distance and she looked closer realizing it was a street sign. "Glenn, there, look."
She pointed at the sign and Glenn slowed down a bit to try and read it.
'Fairburn Road'
They turned to each other happily before Glenn turned into the street.
"Keep your eye out for a mailbox with the name Greene. She said two miles right?" asked Glenn.
"As if you don't have her voice memorized," teased Alice.
"Ha, ha. Very funny," stated Glenn in a dry voice.
"Yeah, she said two miles," confirmed Alice after laughing.
They quieted down once again focusing on trying to find the Greene's mailbox. They didn't pass many properties. Or any really. There seemed to be few neighbors only having seen one mailbox prior.
After a couple of minutes they saw a mailbox with the letters Greene on the side. The letters were faded but Glenn was still able to make what they said. Alice shook Ivy and T-Dog awake letting them know they had arrived at the property.
Alice got out of the vehicle to open the gate while Ivy surveyed the area. Alice finally got the gate open and let Glenn drive through before her and Ivy followed, closing the gate behind them. Glenn waited until both of them were safely in the truck before taking down the dark path cautiously.
Eventually they arrived in front of a big farmhouse with the porch lights still on. Glenn parked the truck and Ivy made her way over to a shivering T-Dog to help him walk. Alice did a quick check of her weapon and backpack before following them as well.
Glenn walked in front of them holding the shotgun in his hands carefully. "So do we ring the bell? I mean it looks like people live here?" he asked.
T-Dog was tired and in pain. "We're past this kind of stuff, aren't we? Having to be considerate."
