The "New Star Games" is open to artists who have debuted within the past five years. There are a total of 120 participants, divided into four teams: Red, Green, Yellow, and Blue, competing against each other.
All the artists were seated in the gymnasium, waiting for the upcoming captain selection draw.
The host on stage had already selected the first three captains through a rolling screen.
The first was last year's men's short and long-distance double champion. With him on board, at least two gold medals were guaranteed.
The second was the singing and dancing prince Sang Heng, whose sister was the youngest Best Actress awardee, Sang Ling, highly regarded in the industry.
The third was Xiao Yue, the captain of the AIR girl group, which included Tang Yuxia.
Only the fourth captain remained unannounced.
Jiang Tao sat in a corner, hugging a bag of toast, munching while thinking about what to have for lunch. She had to admit, the athlete cafeteria food here was pretty good.
The screen on stage scrolled furiously.
Suddenly, it stopped.
"Shing!" A spotlight followed the camera to the corner.
Jiang Tao chewed her bread, looking up in confusion.
"Congratulations! You are now the captain of the Blue Team," announced the host.
"???" Jiang Tao was bewildered but stood up on stage.
Right next to her was the AIR girl group. Tang Yuxia looked teary-eyed. She had hoped that if Xiao Yue became the captain, she could bring Jiang Tao into her team, and they could be together again. But who knew Jiang Tao would become the captain of the Blue Team instead.
If it weren't for her team spirit, she would have wanted to run over to Jiang Tao's team by now.
With all four captains in place, the host began explaining the remaining rules: "This sports event consists of 9 major categories and 17 minor events. Apart from the final team event, each person can participate in up to three events."
"Gold medals in minor events are worth 3 points, silver 2 points, and bronze 1 point. The final team event's gold medal is worth 10 points, silver 8 points, and bronze 6 points. The champion will be determined by the total team points."
"Now, all participants can freely choose their teams. Captains can pick team members, and members can choose their preferred captain. Once decided, come to me to get your team uniforms. Each team has 30 spots. Once full, that's it."
With his words, the participants started moving.
Except for Jiang Tao, the other three captains were particularly proactive. Ten minutes later, the first team, the Red Team, was full, followed by the second and third teams. Only a handful of participants were left in front of Jiang Tao.
Fang Yiran dragged a reluctant man over, greeting Jiang Tao excitedly, "Sis! This is my good buddy Cheng Jie. We're joining your team."
Fang Yiran and Cheng Jie were both boy band idols, but since their group had too many members and got split up, Fang Yiran dragged Cheng Jie over to pledge allegiance.
Jiang Tao was still eating bread, "Sit wherever you like."
