26. A Change Of Face

Right now, your trip led you to Salem, Massachusetts. The worst spot in your road trip. Why? Because you always have to wear this stupid, dumb, outfit

"Y/N. Come on out" Max knocked on the changing room door, his jovial voice being heard on the opposite side. He along with Gwen and Ai were dressed as Pilgrims. Something Max made you do anytime you did a round country trip. You hated it

Gwen was about to go in and get you, but you opened the door before she could. An annoyed expression was etched onto your face, obviously unhappy with the attire that you were forced to wear "...This is stupid"

"It's not that bad, Y/N" Ai said doing a little twirl. While you hated it, Ai enjoyed the chance to dress up "It's like we're going back in time instead of the future"

Max thought about her wording and raised his brow

You and Gwen looked at each other and slightly panicked. You all agreed not to tell Max what happened, mainly because there was no point in doing so "She means the Omnitrix. I said it was like a futuristic thingy mobob"

"Oh... Well, let's get going kids. You can't visit Salem, Massachusetts, without soaking in the local history"

Max led the way through the streets with Ai and Gwen directly behind him. You, yourself, were way in the back, dragging your feet against the ground in irritation. Gwen glanced behind to look at you before bringing Ai closer and whispering in her ear "Ai, what are you--"

The girl giggled, Gwen's breath hitting her ear making her laugh "Gwen, that tickles"

"Ai, I'm serious" She nudged her head in your direction, hoping she would get her meaning "What do you plan to do about him?"

"What do you mean? Did Y/N do something wrong?"

"No" Gwen face-palmed. Why did simple conversations have to be so difficult with the two of you sometimes "Your feelings, Ai, what are you going to do about your feelings"

"Oh..." She never actually thought about it. Well, she did when Sari revealed it, but she didn't really dwell on it afterward. Ai turned her head to look at you kick a rock along as you walked. Why would she want to ruin what you have now anyway? It's one of the highlights of her life

The girl shrugged "Nothing"

"Why not?"

"I don't want to push anything," She said, taking another look at you "Besides. I feel like that'll put pressure on him right now. Remember what he did when Animo turned Max into a bug?"

Gwen wanted to try and persuade her reasoning, but there was nothing she could say that would refute her claims. Sighing, she pat her friend's shoulder "I guess you're right"

In the distance, a building's insides were illuminated by purple before it exploded into flames, making passersby take off running with the noise. A woman ran away from a chunk that fell from the building in a panic as Max saw the destruction. Turning to you, he nodded "Y/N, go ahead"

"Way ahead of you, Gramps" You were already twisting the Omnitrix. When the silhouette was on Heatblast, you hit it and began to change. You felt liquid begin to replace the blood in your body as metal began to converge on your limbs. When the light faded, you weren't Heatblast, but Waterhazard "This works too"

Blasting off the ground, you flew into the building and went into the building to get to work. Due to your quick movements, you failed to notice that Charmcaster was standing on the roof of the burning building with a smirk on her face once she saw you go in

"Ah, I love being a witch"

You flew in and out, bringing anyone that was stuck or trying to escape out into the open so they could catch their breath. Suddenly, a pillar of fire rose not too far from the building before you heard somebody screaming for help. You dropped someone else off before noticing their distress "Don't worry! I'm coming!"
