"We're blessed aren't we?"

The tavern drunk swayed left and right. His buddies stabilized him as he wobbled and crossed his steps. Drunk till dawn the huddle of six men bumbled across the streets, bracing themselves for the earful they'd receive from their wives. Mothers for some. For the tavern drunk, it'd be his daughter who'd give him that earful. He thanked his blessed wife and the lord that no matter how drunk he got he still had some clarity.

"We can't keep downing such drafts. I'm leaking. I'm leaking."

"You piss pot. Hold it in, don't dare sully our streets!"

"Your home's the closest. Pay for your bark and leave the city out of it!"

"Ah, you devils! My floors, my floors have just been repainted and resanded."

"Great let me piss there too, mogwart!"

Slurring their insults and holding no vulgar tendencies back the group stumbled into the morning street. It was dawn and no soul was moving along the street. They were alone, well except for two figures shuffling along. They weren't inconspicuous and their steps were irregular. The frail apothecary and little girl eyed the streets and avoided all in sight.

"Aye, that's the doctor. The warlock!"

"Be civil, don't forget what he has done. He watched all our births. Prices as cheap as can be"

"Quiet wise mule! You blabbering tales, you're the drunkest out of us all!"

"Ah, he's running errands with his daughter. Where's his son?"

"That old ashtray has a daughter? No, that girl she's..."

"Aye, it's the little sister of that heretic. Why on god's honor is he walking with her?"

"It can't be, on second thought I suppose you're right. AYE CAULDRON HEAD! You come yell over here for a moment!"

The apothecary ignored their words and hustled along. His cloak covered the girl giving the drunks more than enough stupid fuel. They lurked closer running into lampposts and tripping over cracks. Despite their stupor, the apothecary was too slow and by extension the girl.

"Now wait, we're a bit too drunk besides. We only meant to correct the boy a bit. I reckon we did take it too far." The storyteller reasoned.

"What? We were soft on that boy. We've not charged him with any crime. I can't believe the guard hasn't found him yet."

"Aye, I say. I reckon we too soft with the innkeeper, how dare he employ a heretic."

"Fired the boy the next day, but we deserve an explanation!"

"AYE HERB PICKER!"

"Don't yell I don't wish to bother you drunkards so early in the morning."

"But you've already bothered us. That little girl, she's a heretic."

The sister shivered and the apothecary stepped in front of her. He was her shield but he was a frail old man. The group snickered and jeered and the girl started to cry.

"She's my great niece. I work with the church to get these herbs and she came along to help. I have the sick to attend to. If you need help, I can make a few ailments that can clear the mind."

"We won't be needing those. Let's move along stoneheads." The tavern drunk chuckled while moving away.

"Wah? No, I'm certain she's. Yes, she has that plane toy in her hands! I knew it!"

"It's a common toy." The apothecary replied calmly.
