The sting of adrenaline still pulses through me as I caught my breath, leaning against the cool concrete wall of the warehouse. The training session with Loki had been intense- not in a 'sexy, let's make out way' but a 'pushing me to my limits' way, just so we're clear.

I wipe the sweat from my brow, feeling the ache in my muscles mingling with a strange sense of satisfaction. If I continue these kind of training sessions with Loki, who knows what I could do? Suddenly, the idea of my full potential fills my mind like a tidal wave. Ever since I first learned, or acquired, or whatever, my powers I had always thought the ice beams would be the extent of them. Loki has, unfortunately, proven me wrong.

I'm about to straighten and go join Loki outside, maybe present my idea about going to see Coulson for help, when a masked figure jumps out in front of me.

Embarrassingly, I let out a yelp of surprise slash fear and instinctively shoot an ice beam at him, which the figure expertly dodges. Seems that even though I've just had a training session expanding my skill set, incorporating them into my fights subconsciously is going to take a different kind of training.

I prepare to shoot another ice beam when the figure pulls their hood off and steps into the light, revealing a small teenage boy with a mop of brown hair and doe-brown eyes.

"Hey, don't shoot! I'm here to help." Peter says, putting his hands up in defeat.

My hands immediately drop to my sides, and I relax my fighting stance. "Peter! You scared the hell out of me."

"Parker, do you have any news?" Loki says, appearing out of fucking nowhere. I'm not sure whether he teleported or is just very very sneaky. Or maybe I just didn't notice his entry while I was busy failing to apprehend a fourteen-year-old superhero.

Peter clears his throat, also putting his hands down. "I've been digging around and found something. Hydra's planning something big."

My eyebrow quirks. Well, obviously. This is Hydra, it'd be surprising if they weren't planning something ginormous. I don't say any of this though, because it's Peter. "What'd you find?" I say instead.

Peter shakes his head, a tired look on his face that hurts my soul. "It's not good. They're developing a new weapon, something that could tip the balance of power."

Loki folds his arms, his expression darkening. "How soon do they plan to deploy it?"

Peter hesitates, biting his lip. "I'm not sure yet. But we need to act fast."

"Agreed," I say firmly. "Do you guys know Agent Phil Coulson?"

Peter cocks his head. "Are we supposed to?"

Loki looks equally confused.

I sigh, tutting in disappointment. "Boy, boys, boys. You owe your life to Phil Coulson, if it weren't for him-" I suddenly pause, my eyes slowly sliding over to Loki like this is a comedy movie. "Um. Well he was kinda a friend with the Avengers."

"Oh, really?" Loki says, bored. "You realise I can read your mind, Vale."

I glare at him. "Well maybe you should stop. It's an invasion of privacy. And I did it for Peter's sake, not yours."

Loki fails to hide his smirk. "Then why were you looking at me?"

My mouth falls open in shock. The audacity of this man-

Loki turns to Peter. "Phil Coulson is the man I killed before the Chitari attack, his death is what brought the Avengers together to defeat me," he tells the boy, in a stupidly casual tone.
