"Yes, my lord," Rain and Mizery responded in unison. They then looked at Gravion and moved through the barrier that Velzard had created for them.
Once inside, both maids took up their battle stances, while Gravion drew his sword and positioned himself with his right leg slightly forward.
"Begin!" Guy declared, watching intently.
In the next instant, Gravion lunged toward them, his sword aimed at Mizery's neck. She would have been too slow to dodge if Rain hadn't grabbed her hand and pulled her out of the way.
Rain retaliated with a Nuclear Cannon—physical magic that turns her fists into projectile launchers for nuclear magic. She unleashed hundreds of punches per second toward Gravion. Despite the onslaught, Gravion skillfully dodged every attack, and when dodging wasn't possible, he expertly blocked the blows with his sword.
Mizery seized the opportunity to attack, launching herself at Gravion in an attempt to kick his hand and disarm him. But before she could make contact, both Mizery and Rain were slammed into the barrier by an unseen force. It felt as if an additional wall of gravitational pressure was trying to crush them against the barrier.
"Just so you two know," Gravion said coolly, "my powers are centered around gravitational manipulation."
Using her Spatial Motion ability, Mizery quickly reappeared behind Gravion, while Rain pushed through the gravitational force to attack from the front. Gravion met their combined assault with a practiced defense, blocking both of their attacks with his sword and sending them several meters away.
As Rain retaliated with Ice Needles—sharp, icy projectiles fired at him—Mizery began to prepare a dark magic spell. Gravion responded by extending his hand towards the Ice Needles, creating a small black hole that swallowed the projectiles. He then hurled the black hole toward Mizery and Rain, the gravitational anomaly threatening to pull them into its event horizon.
Rain deftly dodged the black hole, evading its pull with agile movements. Meanwhile, Mizery invoked dark magic to neutralize the gravitational anomaly, dispelling the black hole before it could do any further damage.
As the black hole vanished, Gravion seized the opportunity. He launched a swift and precise attack at Mizery, aiming to take advantage of her momentary vulnerability.
As Rimuru and Milim watched the battle unfold, Rimuru spoke with Guy and Velzard, sharing his observations about Gravion.
"He's exceptionally skilled," Guy remarked, clearly entertained by the fight. "From the energy flow I sense, he seems to be pursuing a long-term goal."
Rimuru nodded. "When I evolve into a true Demon Lord, all of my subordinates receive a gift and evolve as well. Gravion is still holding off on his evolution. Lately, he's been experimenting with spirits. To be honest, I have no idea what he's aiming for with his power-up."
Velzard's interest piqued. "With spirits? That's quite intriguing."
"Yes," Rimuru confirmed. "Ramiris has been assisting him, and recently, even Veldora has joined in. He seems to have amassed quite a bit of knowledge about spirit experiments."
Velzard nodded thoughtfully. "Well, he was with our older brother a lot when he was experimenting with spirits. To be honest, I still don't know what he was trying to achieve back then. That was about five thousand years ago."
"Really? And Veldora still remembers all of that from so long ago?" Rimuru asked, his curiosity piqued.
"Well, Veldora had a great admiration for Veldenava and Velfriz," Velzard replied, her tone calm and thoughtful. "At that time, Veldenava was heavily occupied with managing the world. I suppose I could have been more helpful, but I wasn't as involved then."
