After Kamado and Agatsuma buried the bodies with the siblings (which I hadn't noticed till Kamado brought it up) another issue arose. Where was I to go? I had no idea where I was or where the nearest town was. He suggested I go with the kids back to their village but I was fairly hesitant. After seeing the atrocities demons were capable of, I'd rather not put my life in the hands of a few children.
Ultimately, Kamado agreed it would be best if I came along, concerned that my injuries could be far more grave than what could be seen on the surface. A crow had then hurtled out of the trees and spoke. I believe I was too tired to register the talking crow who instructed demandingly for Kamado and the others to descend the mountain. After a brief scuffle between the trio of slayers, Kamado ended up carrying Zenitsu after knocking him out for harassing Shoichi. The boar (who I later learned was Hashibira Inosuke) hoisted me into his back out of his violent persistence to carry the 'Sparkly Girl'.
We trudged down the worn-down path. The sky took on the colour of whiskey as the day faded into dusk. As I clung to Hashibira like a vice, he continuously challenged Kamado to fight him and tauntingly called him names. This back-and-forth bantering had my patience walking on a tightrope but I held my tongue.
"Fight me!" The boar demanded which caused me to jolt on his back. It was already uncomfortable enough being carried by a half-naked man using a dead boar's head as a hat—which for the record smelt like it hadn't been washed ever. The only thing I could appreciate about this savage beast was his disturbingly pretty face under that mask. I envied his lashes and viridescent eyes. "I swear I'm going to find a weak point and bring you down, loser!"
"My name is not 'loser'! It's Kamado Tanjiro!"
"Kamaboko Gonpachiro! I'm gonna bring you down!"
"Who the hell are you talking about!?"
"That would be you!"
"No, it's someone else!"
"AAAAHHH! CAN YOU BE ANY LOUDER?"
The previously unconscious blonde had awoken from his forced slumber with a deafening shriek. I suppressed a sigh, covering my ears. My patience was already ebbing away like the tide before a tsunami. Nevertheless, his unexpected intervention silenced the two so we could continue our travels in peace.
After an hour or so of being manhandled and being assaulted by stray branches, we halted in front of a gate in the middle of the woods. Branded on the wooden doors was the kanji for 'Wisteria' and the flowers encircling it.
"A wisteria family crest..." Kamado murmured in mild puzzlement. The three slayers stood staring at the gate. I as well blinked at the crest, peeking over Hashibira's shoulder. It held a vaguely familiar air to it, but I couldn't quite place where I'd seen it. That left an itch of familiarity in the back of my mind as I thought hard to recollect where I'd encountered the symbol.
"Rest time! Rest Time! Since you've sustained injuries, you're to rest until you're fully recovered!" The crow guiding us cawed with demanding purpose. I narrowed my eyes as I peered more at the symbol, dead set on retracing my steps down memory lane for any mention of it, but then again, my memory wasn't the most reliable when I needed it the most.
