What Just Happened?!?!

It was the day before yesterday morning, and I was on a bus heading to a seminar trip for work. The bus was buzzing with conversations and the occasional rustle of papers. I decided to take a break from my notes and glanced around. A girl, my subordinate, a few seats ahead of me caught my eye. She was deeply engrossed in her phone, and I noticed the familiar orange icon of the Wattpad app.

Curiosity piqued, I moved closer and struck up a conversation. "Hi there, do you enjoy reading web books?"

She looked up, beaming. "Oh ma'am, absolutely! I love reading on Wattpad and AO3. There's so much variety, and some of the stories are just amazing."

I couldn't help but smile. "Wattpad, huh? What kind of books do you like?"

She nodded eagerly. "I read a lot of Indian serial-based fanfictions. Shivika, Arshi, etc. Do you read?"

I nodded. "I sometimes read, yeah."

"What language?" she asked.

"English only."

"Oh, so not Hindi or Indian?" she asked again.

"Ummm..." I hesitated. Telling someone that I read gay books isn't always comfortable because you fear being judged. "I read about Kpop." I lied, choosing something close.

She gasped. "About Kpop ships?"

I raised my brows. "You read about it too?"

She shook her head. "I read about BL ships from the Thai industry. TayNew, OhmNanon, etc. Have you heard about it?"

I grinned. "I also like reading OhmNanon books."

My heart skipped a beat.

"Wow! Same taste. So any suggestions?"

Her eyes lit up. "You should check out some of my favorite books. I have read a few amazing ON stories. Have you read 'Jinxed'? It's dragon-based. If you're not into fantasy, you can also try a series called 'Coincidental Husbands.' All the books in that series are incredible!"

I felt a mix of excitement and nervousness. Not only was she praising my work, but she also followed me on Wattpad. I decided to keep my identity a secret for a bit longer. "That sounds interesting. I'll definitely give them a read."

We continued chatting, and from her descriptions, I realized that we had even chatted on Instagram before, though we never exchanged real names or seen each other. As the conversation went on, she started recommending books to me. Out of the five books she suggested for my nighttime reading, four were mine.

Feeling hesitant, I didn't reveal my identity right away.

Yesterday, she asked if I had read anything she recommended. Deciding to tease her a bit, I told her, "I loved 'Coincidental Husbands.' I read it in one go."

She gushed happily. "MA'AM! I had the same reaction! Isn't it awesome? Reminds me of Badbuddy so bad!"

I couldn't contain it any longer. I took a deep breath and said, "Actually, I wrote it."

She pushed my arm lightly getting excited. "I know right? The story felt like it was in our minds the entire time. I thought I would write like to wrote it same way if I could write."

I shook my head and smiled. "No. What I mean is, I wrote 'Coincidental Husbands,' and 'Jinxed,' and all that myself. I am MyInvisibleButterfly."

She stared at me in disbelief. "No way?!?!"

I smiled, shook my head, and showed her my Wattpad login. Her eyes widened with excitement. "Oh my god! Oh my god, authornim. YOU? You are YOU? Oh ma'am this is amazing! I can't believe I'm meeting you for real! I mean, can I call you authornim like I call you on insta?"

I chuckled as she held me by my shoulder and shook me.

"Wait. So can you tell me how MBC ends?"

I laughed, feeling a bit flustered. "I can't spoil it, but I promise it will be worth the wait."

She was thrilled and then asked for an autograph. It was the first time anyone had asked me for one, and I was overwhelmed with emotion. "Of course," I said, my voice shaking slightly. I signed her notebook, and she hugged me, thanking me for writing such wonderful stories.

I hugged her back, feeling a mix of happiness and gratitude. "Thank you for reading and supporting my work. It means so much to me."

As she pulled back, I pointed at her book. "That's my first autograph as an author."

"Oh, authornim, but this won't be the last." She gushed and pulled my arm, chatting happily about all my stories she has read. I had my first fan moment, and it's incredible.

As we continue our seminar trip, we are going to be stuck together, chatting about books, OhmNanon, and everything in between. It is a surreal experience, and I am glad to have met such a lovely person from my Wings. Meeting a reader in real life, especially under such serendipitous circumstances, is a dream come true.

Oh, and I often have to remind her NOT to say anything out loud. Except for one of my friends in the office, nobody knows this secret of mine. I still have a reputation as a senior, but when we are alone, she calls me "authornim." :-)

Thank you Shounensaga!!! ❤️😍
