Hit the party and get friendly♪II was vibing to "Sorrows" by Bryson Tiller, letting the music take me away while I was washing dishes. The beat had me in a zone, but of course, my peace was interrupted by a call. I sucked my teeth, annoyed as I grabbed my phone.
"Why people always gotta call when I'm tryna vibe with my music?" I muttered under my breath.
The screen lit up with Ja'zai's name, which had me raising an eyebrow. He didn't call often, so this had to be something. I answered, curiosity getting the better of me.
"Hello?" I said, trying to mask my surprise.
"Wassup, babysis," Ja'zai's deep voice came through.
"Good, just chilling," I replied, drying my hands on a towel and sitting down.
"Yeah, um... I wanna talk to you about something," he said, his tone serious.
"What's up? What do you wanna talk about?" I asked, my curiosity now fully piqued.
"Uh, like... I want you to meet my girlfriend," he dropped the bomb, making my eyes widen in surprise.
"Oh," was all I managed to say. It wasn't every day my brother asked me to meet his girl.
"What you mean 'oh'? You down for it or not?" he pressed, a hint of impatience in his voice.
"Yeah, it's cool," I finally said, trying to sound more casual than I felt.
"Aight, cool. Can you come by tomorrow at 3?" he asked, and I found myself nodding even though he couldn't see me.
"Yeah, that's good," I agreed, wondering what this was all about.
"Okay, I gotta go, but I appreciate this, for real," he said, sounding almost relieved.
"It's nothing, don't worry 'bout it," I assured him, even though my mind was already racing.
"Okay, bye. Stay safe," he said before hanging up.
I put my phone down, staring at it for a moment. This felt honestly so random but I waved it off.
I continued deep cleaning the house with my music.
